Description Okay, guilty admission: I drew these several years ago, but I am trying to hastily post some HP fan art stuff. I placed in the top three in the Mugglenet Halloween Fan Art competition, which means they'll be pimping a link to my artwork, and my deviantART account is all I've got at the moment. So, I'm just trying to make my gallery a wee bit more HP-fan friendly.

Incidentally, these were all drawn pre-HP movies, with the exception of Harry. I retooled him a bit after I saw young Daniel Radcliffe when he was first selected to play the boy wizard. Maybe Fred and George were drawn after the first movie, too, but I didn't base them at all on the actors because they don't look how I imagine F & G.

Thanks! People seem to get a kick out of Draco's facial expression. I'm glad you like it, too.

Yay!! Hot Snape!! Although I love Alan Rickman as Snape (methinks he's poifect) your Snape will be in my dreams tonight.

OK, that sounded a little creepy...

Severus Snape is EXACTLY how I've always imagined him, even after the movies came out.

...he's actually kinda sexy. O_o

I've always kinda had a crush on him, but I know he's, like, the LAST person you'd ever want to be in a relationship with. That is, if he didn't absolutely break your spirit before you even got the chance to try. He's a mean ol' bastard, but I like him.

I'm serious when I say that there is no other way to picture Hagrid...that's what he's always looked like in peoples' heads. XD

Uh, yeah, so you left this comment almost a year ago and I am just now replying to it. (See parent thread.) I haven't been active on DA for a while, so there was a back log of a million messages, most of which I haven't been replying to, but I had to reply to this one.

I LOVE Severus Snape. He's always been a kind of sexy, nasty Dracula-type in m mind. He's my favorite character in the books. There's tons of fan fiction out there (if you're into that sort of thing) featuring Snape. I'm a complete addict myself. Anyhoo. Back to the inbox. Thanks for the comment!

Must get myself one of those Trust Snape stickers. I absolutely believe Snape was acting under Dumbledore's orders. He is the one character in the series whose actions Harry has consistently misread. I would bet good money that Snape bites it in book 7, saving Harry's life no doubt. I'll cry bitter, bitter tears.

Ha! If you used to write Snape fanfic, I've probably read it. I became a complete and total addict in college. I don't even want to guess how many stories I've read since then. There are of course the terribly-written, horrifically-punctuated, atrociously-spelled, and generally gag-worthy fics, but usually you can spot those a mile away. I keep the faith because of those occasional gems that are well-written, in-character, and intelligent.

I've never read House fanfic. Well, that is to say, I read the first few paragraphs of one and then never again. It just seemed... wrong. But that's me.

Frog dissections? Ugh. Sounds like biology class all over again. *shudders* Sorry to hear about Marley. Poor thing.

Oh my! XD I'm rather used to people with popular deviations not replying, backlog aside.

YES! I grabbed a Trust Snape sticker from Borders when I was there the other day (I'd preordered my book about a week before the sticker thing came about). Even if he did act under his own orders and not Bumblebee's, I still love the old bastard. I'm a bit into the evil side of most things...I almost always root for the bad guys. They're just so much more INTERESTING.

I actually used to WRITE fanfic, but I don't do it so much anymore. It's been...almost a year, actually. I don't write much original stuff anymore, either. I stopped reading a lot of Harry Potter stuff because of the Mary Sues, Marty Stus, OOC behavior, and HORRENDOUS spelling, grammar, punctuation, and paragraph format (as in...there are over 5000 words...in ONE PARAGRAPH). I've read about Snape having too many fuzzy creatures as buddies who aren't that way as a clever ruse so they can steal your soul and/or eat your face/other organs. Oh, and as for him being Harry's dad? Yeah...NO. It's like...he's been a total BASTARD towards you for years and years...but once he reveals he's yo daddeh, HE WUBS YOOOOU.

*sigh*

Sorry. I rant about fanfic. A lot. It's like reading House fanfic where he's crying because he's addicted to Vicodin or because he's all awone in the world. You want to just shake your head and smack the writer around a bit. He'd only cry over Vicodin if he's going through withdrawals...and he sort of did on the show, if I recall. Because, believe me, Vicodin withdrawals are only second to heroin. They don't last as long. That's the only good thing, really. And you're less likely to get the shakes...just vomit up blood. >_>

Man, I really know how to look on the bright side. XD

I apologise. I dissected a frog today. Well...some guy did and I had to draw pictures. I now want to go curl in a ball and CRY, because I kept seeing it as my old frog Marley...who was actually much smaller and an Australian Treefrog, but still. T__T

Draco is WAY COOL. As in, that's how he's supposed to look in my head. I don't like him, and I too my happiness (sorta), Tom Felton is becoming less cute/handsome in my opinion, and more and more sneery (even when he grins and smiles he looks like he's sneering o_O). But yeah. Snape looks hot, which scares me a bit. XD

StarryAugen In reply to harbek [2005-11-01 01:29:55 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I'm glad that Draco is getting progressively sneerier in the movies, too.

Yeah, that Snape was loosely based off Ralph Fiennes in my mind. My mental image of some of the characters has changed since I saw the movies, which is kind of sad, since I liked how I imagined them originally. I think the movies are great, but they can rob readers of their initial impressions of the characters and scenes.

harbek In reply to StarryAugen [2005-11-01 02:33:01 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I agree. I saw the first two movies before I read the books, and then I read the first 5 books. So, the only thing I've had to look forward to is the PoA and GoF movies (so soon!) and HBP. I wish I'd discovered how brilliant it was earlier (maybe when I was younger, I'd enjoy the first two books a little more than I do now).

So. Your Snape was based off the guy playing Voldemort now? Heh. Ooh, and congrats on getting second-place in the Mugglenet Halloween contest!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StarryAugen In reply to harbek [2005-11-01 04:11:16 +0000 UTC]

Why don't you enjoy the first too books as much? Do they seem too kid-oriented to you? The first book is still my favorite, and I read that in my late teens.

Ha! I didn't even think about the Ralph Fiennes/Voldemort thing! That is kind of strange. Back before they made the third movie, I was so hoping that they'd get Ralph Fiennes to play Sirius Black and Jeremy Irons to play Remus Lupin. Alas, it was not to be.

Thanks for the congrats on the Mugglenet contest. My pageviews have nearly tripled. It's mind-boggling.

StarDragger In reply to StarryAugen [2007-05-08 00:41:35 +0000 UTC]

You can expect more pageviews because of me, though moreso for your House and Alan Rickman drawings. I have a few friends that are big fans of both. I'll tell you what they think.

And congrats, by the way.

Jeremy Irons would have been awesome as Lupin but the guy who plays him now isn't too shabby.

harbek In reply to StarryAugen [2005-11-01 06:00:49 +0000 UTC]

Well, yeah, they seem kid-oriented, but it might be just the fact that I read the first two in Norwegian, and the next 3 in English. That takes a lot away from it. Then two years later I read CoS in English, and I enjoyed it a lot more, but I still haven't read PS in English.

I don't think I wanted any particular actors to play their parts... Well. I had some ideas, but I think it was better with people I hadn't actually seen before. I think both David Thewlis and Gary Oldman are brilliant, both as themselves and as Sirius and Remus. Although Sirius suddenly became waay short, but I can live with that.

StarryAugen In reply to harbek [2005-11-02 23:24:40 +0000 UTC]

You read the first two HP books in Norwegian??? Wow. That sounds difficult. Are you Norwegian?

I think the actors chosen to be Sirius and Remus did a great job, too, they just didn't quite look how I thought they would. Brilliant acting though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

harbek In reply to StarryAugen [2005-11-03 07:42:10 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I'm Norwegian. Otherwise there's not a chance in hell in would've bothered reading it in NOrwegian. Actually, I was borrowing the books from a friend to read them, and she only had the first 2 in Norwegian, not English. I have all the books myself now though, except for PS.

And yeah, that's exactly what I thought. Like, Remus' Evil Mustache of Doom for example. But, they made up for it with brilliant acting.

StarryAugen In reply to harbek [2005-11-04 00:07:31 +0000 UTC]

So, obviously you're biligual. Do you have any other languages hiding up your sleeve? It would be so nice to be fluent in more than one language. On a good day, I can carry on a conversation in German, and I can speak enough Spanish to embarrass myself, but that's it.

"Remus' Evil Mustache of Doom" – oh, that's so funny. I didn't care for it either. Were you the one who also made the comment about him looking like a "slightly hairy grasshopper" when he turned into a werewolf?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

harbek In reply to StarryAugen [2005-11-04 00:55:37 +0000 UTC]

XDD Slightly hairy grasshopper... No. That wasn't me. But that was spot-on. I think I might have called him a hairless rat or something though. Eesh.

Yeh, Norwegian is my first language, English is my second language, and German is my third language. I've had German for 4 years in school, and I understand some, and I can speak enough to embarrass myself, as you so eloquently put it, but I don't think I could lead a conversation in it. Well, I can understand Swedish and Danish, and Swedes and Danes can understand me, but the three languages are pretty similar (although while Norwegians can understand both, I'm told Swedes and Danes don't understand eachother at all...).

Whoa, there's a beetle trying to fly around here, and it just landed like... exactly where I was writing on the screen.

Three languages? *sigh* You Europeans are too smart. Put us Americans to shame.

I didn't realize that Swedish, Danish, and Norwegian were so similar linguistically.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

harbek In reply to StarryAugen [2005-11-07 16:08:47 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, they are. Danish and Norwegian is very much like eachother when it's written, but Danes had this CRAZY pronounciation. Sounds like they're talking with a potato stuck in their throats... and Swedish is possbliy opposite, with more like Norwegian when it's spoken. There are words and stuff that differ, but overall, it's pretty alike. There are Swedish dialects that I understand better than some Norwegian dialects... And of course, I have Swedish television channels too (pretty much all Norwegian with a tv do), so I'm pretty used to hearing and reading it.

I've like a heavy Scottish accent vs. some American accent....
