Firebird8x10 Watercolors
This was a present for my dad for Christmas - he loves dragons. He loves red. He loves RED DRAGONS! So I was thinking 'what can I paint him' and ... well, of course! Red Dragons! As I was plotting on what I could paint for my Mom as a matched pair, I remembered she loved the Phoenix / Dragon sets. I sketched for awhile trying to get the larger sized versions of these critters and stumbled onto their littler - and no less magical - cousins the Fire Lizard and Fire bird!
So, Ive always imagined firebirds were more amber, garnet, and cinnabar colored peacocks with magical sparks flowing off their feathers! She sits proudly on her branch - gazing lovingly across the tree trunk at Firelizard! [link]

Oh thank you! This was actually one of my first 'all warm color' paintings. Its hanging up next to my moms mirror where she puts makeup on in the morning, so she does see it every morning!
