Whew...

This artwork right here is... an exercise, to say that least...

Before I get into how I drew it out, I just want to say that lately I have been going out into the city with my family and their friends, and I channeled my inner sweet tooth a little bit at the candy, ice cream, and chocolate shops I checked out. One particular store really resonated with its purple and orange wall and shelf colorations, music selection, and broad selection of sweets. I just thought it was the coolest thing ever, and I wanted to bring to life a candy-themed city outing. I had the idea for another piece, but we won't be seeing that for some time...

The process itself took a few days to almost a week... and it was complicated by hot weather melting my brain... the visual of my Dragonsona with my hatless version of Balan started off as practice to get their proportions and height comparison down (as well as showing the details of his outfit). At first, nothing worked, but then I just got it! Since then, it was just going forward with the scenery all around them. Not to mention, I thought it would be cool to include the outfit I adopted from Starfire-vega1 .

If you're curious about that Peridot in the alleyway, she's another adoption from Starfire-vega1 . Once I got the basic pose down, I thought it would be sweet to include her. As more of the scenery came to life, the character selections became more or less natural to fit in with particular actions and what one may see in the city, from Rayman in the shoe shop looking for a new pair, to the Emolga on the sign, and even Wally Darling from Welcome Home just passing by. Some of the worst trouble was within the candy shop itself, with trying to figure out what kind of candy would be displayed to who would be customers there. In the end, I settled on Bubbles from the PowerPuff Girls checking out the candy selections, and Magma the Fire Dragon, a character who belongs to blueyoshiegg . He had his birthday just a few days ago, and I thought it would be sweet to include him (pun not intended XP)
