I said before in a status update that I totally enjoyed the new Netflix movie Nimona, and I felt a HUGE itch to bring something to life! Of course, my kind of style lies in video game characters and more cartoony aesthetics, and I thought it would be really cool to have Amy Rose embrace her inner rosy rascal by cosplaying as our shapeshifting queen of awesomeness! (not to mention, it was influenced by how the colors of her graphic novel look reminded me a lot of her classic look) I actually had a different concept idea in mind when I first started sketching it out, but as Amy was taking up more space than I anticipated, I decided to bring in a character who could fill in for Ballister Boldheart. I just don't know WHY I thought Shadow the Hedgehog would fit in for it!

The composition and positioning of the characters was one part of it all. The other part was trying to get the costumes and colors as accurate as possible with whatever sources online there is. At least I had a ton of help from an actual real-world cosplay costume for Nimona herself that I happened to have come upon. Drawing armor is a little bit tricky for me due to how I want to make the shapes and colors as accurate as possible.

As for the background, I initially didn't have any real ideas other than the fact that I wanted it to be bold, grungy, punky, and also be a close homage to the title card seen in the trailers. Plus, I wanted to feel like a kind of graffiti with the inclusion of the silver sharpie.

May not be perfect (and Amy still feels a little bit off to me), but I hope you guys like it and got it as close to the characters as possible.
