Who I... still haven't settled on a name with.
Anyway, this is an old work that has been available on tumblr for like... two years, I think? Because I was so embarrassed about my lack of Miracleverse posting and also unsure of my audience's interest in nerdy ass Star Trek crossovers, so I just kind of... dropped off the wagon!

This was originally posted on tumblr on January 31st, 2020... oh, god, pre-pandemic... moving on, after I try to sell my non-Star Trek fan followers on watching Star Trek Deep Space Nine.

No, seriously, watch Deep Space Nine. Watch Star Trek, guys, it's so good! It's about adults! There are people over 30! In fact, nearly every character is over 30! It is considered notable if they aren't! This character, here, Doctor Julian Bashir, is 27 at the start of the series, and he is treated as shockingly young, as an overly eager gangly puppy of a man, which is fairly accurate all things considered.

It's about the future of humanity, better than it once was but still experiencing challenges! The intersections of morality and war and the heavy price of paradise! Stupid sci fi shenanigans! Women kissing! In the 90's! They break up at the end of the episode but there's gay! The discussion of morality and the relativity therein!

This character also is involved in a gay ship so textually obvious that not only do the producers regret not trying to push for it, but the actors themselves are absolutely rabid for it, they literally have written and performed plays of fanfiction they themselves wrote about their characters getting together! Garak comes up and is, in his own way, going 'hey you look like a hot young twink do you wanna come back to my shop and talk?' and... god, I love Star Trek.

Watch Star Trek. As long as you aren't some pussy afraid of a little campiness in your media, you'll love it!

Moving on, finally, I'm going to copy my description for this from Tumblr , because it still fits;

I walk into the Star Trek fandom like ‘what up, i got an overly cartoony artstyle and a pokemon au’

So, anyway, got bored one day, came upon the idea of a Pokémon/Star Trek AU where it’s kinda like ‘His Dark Materials’ and their daemons, but without all the spiritual stuff. Essentially, almost everyone, universally, has a Pokémon partner, like Ash and his Pikachu, to whom they share a special connection with.

The fact that Pokémon have a very explicit supernatural origin leads me to believe they would be the first thing people had in common with each other when first contact was made; the fact that they share common species across the galaxy is one of the main things that connects people to other species in the galaxy. The different legendary Pokémon created different worlds, and all worlds have Pokémon. I have more, but that’s for worldbuilding posts if people are interested.

I chose Pokémon for everyone (ok, a lot of people) who thematically fit or because I really just wanted to, and with Julian, I chose an Eevee, because they’re cute as hell, and Pokédex entries for them consistently brings up things like ‘Thanks to its unstable genetic makeup, this special Pokémon conceals many different possible evolutions.’ and so I felt it obviously fit. I have yet to name him, and I thought Kukalaka was a little too obvious, so if anyone has suggestions, feel free.

His Eevee is a spoiled brat, Julian got him right after he learned about being augmented, soon after his fifteenth birthday. He chose an Eevee because he’s dramatic and claims he felt a certain kinship with them.

He takes very good care of his Eevee, and absolutely never feeds it anything that isn’t specifically a vet approved substance, so obviously his Eevee hates this and craves people food. He will beg, he will grovel, just... please give him people food, Julian, it won’t kill him! (This is the equivalent of a dog begging for chocolate)

Garak taught, secretly, within about the first few weeks on the station, Bashir’s Eevee to knock stuff off of tables for attention. Julian has not realized that Garak is the one who taught him to do this. He thinks the stress of moving to a space station made Eevee start to act out.

His Eevee hasn’t evolved into anything despite their deep connection because of a lack of battling, and then during DS9, because there’s no sun or moon on the space station to trigger a transformation into either Espeon or Umbreon.

After the events of ‘Dr. Bashir, I Presume’, when Julian is open and honest about himself for the first time since he got Eevee, Eevee senses the honest affection in the air and finally evolves into a Sylveon.

That’s all the info I have on Bashir’s Eevee and how he’d affect story events. There are many Pokétrek AUs, one where everything happens the same but with Pokémon, and others where some story events change because of the Pokémon.

So, uh, if anyone has any suggestions on what to name the Eevee, or wants to hear more about this AU, hit me up!
