Slight changes to Serendipity's design aside, this is the sordid tale of the time where Quasimodo Quartz was beset by Discord's beloved daughter, Serendipity, and was accosted by a fashion whirlwind.
In Quartzy's words:
I do not wish to speak ill of anypony, even a draconequus such as Serendipity, but… suffice it to say, the apple of discord doesn’t fall far from the tree. She may be a hybrid, like myself, and like… her, and if we three are any basis, we show that hybrids tend to be… difficult to deal with. The Crystal Empire is my haven, as detestable as I am to my subjects. Venturing to the library is a task that fills me with trepidation, but I would not want to push that task on to anypony around me.
Still, the Crystal Empire is not an impenetrable sanctuary. Serendipity stops by up here, albeit only occasionally. But, should my presence be needed elsewhere in Equestria, especially around Canterlot or Ponyville, she is inevitably drawn to me, a fellow hybrid. And one time, in Canterlot… I still shudder at that memory. The less said of that “makeover”, the better.
Don't ask about the power drill. It leads to pain
