During this March break I finally managed to watch all the episodes of Soul Eater, one of the very few animes I enjoy. Soul Eater really is awesome. Of course it has flaws and clichés, but I still really enjoy it!And Crona, oh, love him so much! He’s such an adorable character. You just want to snuggle him!
And as the tard I am I wanted to draw a crossover with him and Zant. So well, the result was Zant looking like Crona. I tried to keep the original style as much as possible and I have to say it turned out really good! I also took a look at the anime itself to see how the shading/light worked. It was just a basic, one-toned, shading.
I did also use a new technique of shading that I learned from *BehindtG ’s tutorial of how she makes her Pokémon comic “Random doom”
And it was actually fun! It’s simple and you can still get a great result!
Of course this picture isn’t a good example of that as it’s just a single-toned and such a simple shading. But you know what I mean!
Again, I think this picture came out well! It was fun to draw and colour. I hope the rest of you will enjoy it!

Well, in the original manga, if I remember right, they use gender-neutral words when speaking about Chrona. I don't know how it is in the translated versions of the manga. In the Japanese version of the anime they call Chrona a he, and in the English one too. But I've heard Chrona is called a she too somewhere (I am not completely sure about this because I haven't looked around too much about it). But for me Chrona has always been a guy. But I don't mind people who view Chrona as a female!

Heh, I honestly thought that character was a girl! But y'know, I'd buy him being a boy, though, 'cause after this character: [link] being a man, nothing along those lines really surprises me anymore.
This is a kinda neat anime-style interpretation of Zant. Well, he looks a bit younger in this drawing... But nonetheless. It seems a bit out of character for him to be so nervous-looking. I always thought he would have slicked-back hair tied into a longish ponytail at the base of his skull, but this hairstyle's probably a more common interpretation.
Am I the only one who got the feeling the writers suddenly decided they wanted Zant as a comic relief villain right near the end? From watching my brother play, he's a really easy boss, and some of his battle animations are kinda comical. He is a great character, though.
For some reason (despite his voice in-game not really sounding like either of them) I think his voice should be dubbed by either Jerry Jewell (Barry the Chopper (FMA) [link] Sorry the clip is so short) or Chuck Huber (Shou Tucker (FMA) [link] , Kululu/Kururu (Sgt. Frog) [link] ) if there were an anime of Twilight Princess.
Oh, and Vic Mignogna (Edward Elric (FMA) also [link] ) would do a good voice for Link, I think.
...Okay, that was random. I spent like 20 minutes getting those links for something that was totally unnecessary, but meh.

Oh shit, THAT'S a guy? Hahahahahahaha! Oh my! Well, actually there's many arguments about Crona's real gender. But I've always seen Crona as a boy.
And remember, this is just a silly crossover as Crona is pretty crazy, and as you mentioned: Zant's a freaking comic releaf at the end, acting all crazy and freaky and letting out those pitch laughs. And why he appears so nervous in this picture is because Crona is a very nervous character. So with the look I went for a mix with them both, and then personality is more like Crona's.
And well, those are some funny examples of voices. Well, i honestly like Zant's voice as it is. It always cracks me up and he appears to be able to go from a very pitch voice to a very deep one, depending on his mood.

Yeah, he says so himself. Although I'm not sure whether to trust him or not because in the middle ages, women would sometimes disguise themselves as men to pursue traditionally male occupations.
Reminds me of how the English translations refer to Giegue as a male, but in the Japanese versions the gender isn't mentioned and the character is either androgynous-looking or bodyless, depending on the game.
I didn't think it was serious at all. I do like how it looks, though.
I was thinking that if they made an anime of Twilight Princess, one of those two should dub his voice. His seiyuu (Japanese voice actor) would ideally be the same person who did his voice in the game, but unless that person can speak fluent English, someone else would need to do the voice in a dub. Admittedly, my suggestion of Jerry Jewell makes more sense if you've heard his voice for Barry before his soul was transferred into that suit of armor. He can do a deeper voice, too.

Well that's true. But that guy sure looks like a lady. And I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's really a guy.
And yeah, that about Giegue, another character many people argue about the gender off. Again Giegue falls for the male gender. I really tend to see genderless or non comfirmed characters as males of some reason. Do you know NiGHTS? A character from SEGA. It's official that NiGHTS is genderless, letting the fans see NiGHTS as which gender they wish to see NiGHTS as. Even when NiGHTS appears very femenime, i still see NiGHTS as a male.
And I've sadly never heard Barry's voice. I never watched that far of the anime. I've only read up to book 18, then they stopped translating it in Swedish and the only place I know where you can buy English copies is in Stockholm, far away from where I live.

Neither would I really; I was just sorta speculating. He does say that he was picked on for looking female from an early age.
I think that part of that might be because humans, as a largely patriarchal society, tend to consider male to be the "default" gender, even though the genetic default is female, so we assign that to beings that we can't tell the gender of.
Yeah, I read about that somewhere. NiGHTS is kinda weird; I see the character as being more feminine than masculine, but I still refer to him as male, and consider him to be genderless. I don't really play SEGA games anymore; in fact, I haven't played NiGHTS at all, though I do know about the character.
You could always buy or even read the English volumes online. You could probably watch the anime online, too, if you wanted.
When it comes to things like that, the internet is your friend.

Well I gues the fact that more and more male characters whit femenime looks grows in number and therefore we begin to be able to asume such things, as what we both has done with NiGHTS.
Ahahahahaha, true! I have some websites saved there I can watch animes if I ever feel like watching one. I'm not too much into animes, but FMA is a really good manga so I guess I could finish the anime too~! Plus I would like to watch brotherhood because it follows the manga more.

In anime/manga art styles, it can be sorta hard to tell characters' genders 'cause there's a much wider range of appearance types that could be either gender than in real life.
That'd be a good idea if you wanted to see the rest of the story, which I'd advise as it doesn't really stop being good.
Even the original anime isn't bad so much as it's a different story. If you don't mind that, it's actually kinda good as its own story, too.

I'm not speaking of only manga and anime. I speak of all kinds of things such characters can appear in: Movies, games, books, all sort of stuff.
Yes I know the first anime is more of a different story. It actually does bother me, because I wish they could have followed the manga in the very beginning. Sure they could have added some stuff here and there. But, yeah. But as some has said to me the first anime is good because of it's own ideas. Well yeah, I can agree on that. Some ideas are cool. But again, I wish they could have done what they did in brotherhood right away.

Hm. I haven't seen it happening so much in movies, but the instances of it I've seen in games are usually with games in which the characters are drawn in an anime/manga style, or in a few cases they're 8 Bit, so with only the sprite(s) to go on it's not so clear. In books, though, the reader is supposed to imagine for themselves what the characters look like based on the descriptions, so I guess I could see that happening, too.
I try not to let it bug me too much, primarily because now there is an anime of the manga, and besides, it's already happened, so there isn't really anything to be done at this point. I still like the manga/Brotherhood story more, though.

WHat I know it's a boy. In the original manga they use gender-neutral words for "him". I don'tk now about the english version. But in the anime's they call Crona a "he". Both in the english dubbed one and the one with subtitles by Funimation. So I've always seen Crona as a male. No metter if he has pink hair and a dress-like cloth. It's not really soemthign ne wi nthe anime/manga-world that a male looks like a girl.
