Description
Psqurm - Bug/PsychicThe Paradox Pokemon
"It latches to the heads of larger Pokemon, lured by the hypnotic orb on its tail. It feeds on their brainwaves until they collapse from exhaustion, leaving it to seek a fresh host."
Psqurm is a Fakemon love-letter to parasitic worms: it has the vivid stripes of Leucochloridium paradoxum, ie, "That gross worm that turns snails into zombies" , and the handsome face of a hookworm" , along with a touch of glow-worm thrown in for flavour. Obviously there'll never be a Pokemon that actually inhabits the eyes and/or lower colon of another Pokemon, but I think a brain-worm that temporarily turns Pokemon into zombies whilst it feeds off brainwaves would fit right in alongside the dead cicadas puppeteered by Cordyceps fungus and the fist-sized electricity-munching ticks.
Psqurm lures its prey close with entrancing pulses of light, clamping down on their head whilst they're dazzled by its light-show. Completely under the control of the parasite, and reduced to only the most basic brain-functions as the Psqurm feeds, the host stumbles around like a zombie for several days. Unable to feed or properly look after themselves, the host will eventually pass out, leaving the parasite in need of a new host...so savvy Psqurm may actually use their helpless hosts as bait to attract a larger, stronger host for them to jump onto. Psqurm infestation in itself causes no long-term physical or mental damage...it's just the "getting eaten by larger Pokemon whilst you're helpless" part that's the problem.
Clanker the Aron is helpfully demonstrating the effects of Psqurm-infestation. She'll be fine: she wasn't using those brain-waves anyway.
