Description This is a portrait of Goichi Suda, aka Suda 51. He is the CEO of Grasshopper Manufacture, an independent video games developer responsible for the Gamecube and PS2 game Killer7, as well as the upcoming Wii game, No More Heroes, coming out later this month. He has specialized in many japanese adventure games that generally have not made it out to U.S. localization, though this changed with Killer7. His games are characterized by deep surreal stories and innovative means of intereaction, often poking fun at the industry, pop culture, and the very way we commonly understand life and the universe. His older games, namely "The Silver Case" and "Flower, Sun, and Rain," initmately connected with the universe we know from Killer7, are currently in the works to be ported to the Nintendo DS, hopefully for worldwide localization, for all of us to enjoy.

This was done in charcoal and white conte on 8"x12" paper designed for charcoal use.

The man is great, and so is the art you did.
My attempt to tribute him didn't come out nearly as well.
Truly glorious, comrade

Indeed he is! I figured he deserved to be honored, I've been meaning to work on some portraits and he's one of the first people that came to mind.

I like your's alot, it's just different, not necessarily worse. Your's brings alot of power through its use of color, yet at the same time, it's minimalism. Two different interesting approaches to the same basic image.

Thanks for the compliment; I intend on trying to better myself for a greater tribute to an under appreciated genius.
I'll be watching your stuff from this point on; I think you are quite skilled.
