Description
oh surprise surprise, another TMNT fanart :3 and it comes with a cutesy storySplinter heaved a third sigh as another sharp crash rattled his ears. He opened one eye, wearily pulling himself from his meditation, “Donatello, be more careful with your younger brother please.” he sighed.
The third of the three brothers shook his violet and white pelt, still slightly soft with kitten fur.
“Sorry Master Splinter!” he squeaked, right before he was bowled over by Michelangelo, who had quickly recovered his footing despite his stubby legs.
Splinter couldn't resist a chuckle, shaking his head fondly. He glanced towards where Leonardo and Raphael were also training. Leonardo had longer legs and a lean build, an advantage to his age, but Raphael- not much his junior- used his sturdy build and muscles to his own. If both could learn from the other's strengths, they would both be fearsome fighters some day.
Closing his eye again, Splinter let out a long breath, and let the sounds of the tussling children fade from his ears.
“Ow!”
The old cat snapped his eyes open, every sound coming flooding back. He whirled around, reaching the boys in a heartbeat, “What has happened?”
“Raph used claws!” Michelangelo cried out instantly, earning a death-glare from his red pelted brother, “Tattle-tale!”
Leonardo was shaking his head rapidly, small droplets of blood flicking across the floor from a rip in his ear.
Leaving the other three to their argument, Splinter crouched down by the young tom and licked his forehead comfortingly, “Are you alright little one?”
Leonardo flicked his ear, sending one last little drop of blood, but then looked up with bright blue eyes, sparkling with the childlike enthusiasm that saw adventure in everything, “That was awesome! I got my first battle-scar!” he cried cheerfully.
Splinter chuckled in relief, sitting back on his haunched with a smile while Leonardo strained his gaze in an attempt to see the small cut.
That was years ago, and Splinter sighed as he remembered the little kittens who had seen such a light in everything. Well, Donatello and Michelangelo still did, Raphael still got the spark of adrenaline whenever they were about to take off. It was just...
“Master, we're back!” Michelangelo's bouncy voice, accompanied by an even bouncier Michelangelo, brought the old cat back to his senses, and he turned to see the four heading in through one of the tunnels. All had the occasional scratch and bruise, but Splinter was relieved to find that the worst of the wounds was a few cuts on Leonardo's chest as he trudged in at the back of the group.
“Leonardo, come here so I can look at your wound.” Splinter ordered. He thought he saw a flash of resentment in his son's eyes, but the eldest brother obeyed swiftly and stood stiffly before him.
As Splinter examined the wound, he sighed in relief at no sign of infection of major blood loss, “And you are alright besides this?”
“Yes Master.”
Splinter cautiously eyed the other scars littering his son's body, wondering how he'd not noticed the building numbers.
He sat back, hoping to see the enthusiasm that those bright blue eyes once held. Wishful thinking never succeeds. He held back from showing his disappointment as he was met only with the hardened steel azure gaze, a look that stated the being's disappointment at the dull routine of life- another day, another scar.
“You may go join your brothers.” he rasped simply, and Leonardo dipped his head respectfully then trudged off again, leaving Splinter to stare after him, longing for the cheerful kitten that had once been. Why did you change, my son?
the end of a cheerful tale xD it's basically just Splinter's perspective of how Leonardo ages from an enthusiastic child to an adult who's sick of being told the same thing over and over again.
Inspired by: the song- Structure- INNERPARTYSYSTEM and also the TMNT TV series (2003-2009) Series 4-The Ancient One, where at the beginning, Leonardo lashes out while training with Splinter.
