Ah, but forgiveness is a powerful thing. While it does not remove consequences, and does not necessarily mend broken trust, it keeps bitterness from taking a hold on one's heart.

Agreed then... although even some people find it a hard challenge to forgive a person.. especially, unless that person who has sinned you refuses to accept the fact that he has sinned against you. I see this in situation of Elsa with Hans... Unless Hans refuses to accept his fault, like the manipulator he is... Elsa will never find herself in the spot to forgive him.Β

The one I've seen the most is Hans is going to be executed for his crimes. Elsa doesn't want that to happen, so she takes him back to Arendelle. (Now this is where I try to delve into both of their minds) Through his time in prison in the Southern Isles, Hans has been force to deal with the seriousness of what he's done. How he changed his personality to make them trust him. Charming for Anna, noble for Elsa, kind and compassionate for the villagers. When he took of his mask, showed them who he really was... well... I guess he went a little crazy. He's forced to realize he's used his "power" for evil... and become a monster.
Meanwhile, Elsa has no idea what to do with him. She's still a bit scared of him, and just being around him makes her emotions go haywire. Not only did he try to kill her, he tried to kill Anna and broke her heart by treating her as nothing more than a disposable pawn in his game of power. But she knows she could never forgive herself if she just stood by and watched him die.Β
Hans has been pushed to the breaking point (by looking death in the face), and hates what he's become. He wishes he could just get away from it all, to start over, but he feels he's gone too far. He's also shocked that Elsa let him live, after all he's done to her. Hans knows he does not deserve to live, and for (maybe) the first time in his life, he has been shown grace (and mercy). Hans knows he owes Elsa a debt he can probably never repay.Β
At first he remains cold and shuts everyone out, but, perhaps, over time the desire to start over grows stronger, though he still does not know how. He's pretty sure no one will give him a chance. (Except maybe Elsa. After all, she knows what it's like to feel like a monster, to regret things she's done with her power, and has a troubled past, like him.) He's also not sure if one day Elsa will just change her mind and have him killed, or if someone else will.Β
However, he knows one thing: before he dies, he has to tell her "I'm sorry". (for realzies! XD) But the question is: how can she forgive him?
(I feel like I've just wrote an essay. But yeah, I love delving into Hans' mind. He's such an interesting character.)

that's a beautiful story. I'll have to eventually write a Helsa fanfic. Probably all my non-Helsa fans will kill me but hey, who cares. I don't know if I will ship this in the future, but for now I'll stick to Jelsa and Jackunzel - they make my life hard enough. I do love that story tho. You actually gave me inspiration for your request about On Wings of Ice. I don't think you will love me for how I redeem Hans though....DX

Yay, I'm glad I gave you inspiration. Yeah, I'll probably have to turn that into a fanfic one of these days, but I've never really written romance before. Yeah, I had a LITTLE in Here Be Dragons, but honestly, I DON'T KNOW HOW!Β
Yeah, I know that I lot of people don't like this ship, and I can see where they're coming from, but honestly, for me, I think that staring death in the face is enough to wake Hans up to what he's done, even though he doesn't want to admit it.
