This would be a pretty dramatic and a dark take on the reboots story. It would make sense, considering how broken Donalds and Scrudges relationship is in the reboot and Donald actually tries to protect his family, while Scrudge himself puts them in danger for the next adventure without thinking of the quansaquences. :/

I don't know. In comics she is missing in space but still alive, but then again, I doubt that she is asstronaut in this version.

I have a feeling that the Spear of Selene is going to play some part in the whole mystery of Della and what happened with her. Maybe, just maybe, they'll even give us clues about the boys' father, the unnamed duck on the Don Rosa version of the Duck Family Tree. There was a comic, I forget if it was Dutch or Italian (a lot of international Donald Duck comics seem to be either Dutch or Italian) where the explanation for Della being gone was that she wanted to go into space and when she did she ended up going beyond the speed of light which put her into a time loop. By the time she comes back she thinks it's only been a matter of minutes, maybe hours, but in reality several years have passed and one of the boys (I forget which one it was said who did this in some YouTube comments) lied about who he really was so she didn't find out the truth. I have a feeling the look of Della in that painting in Scrooge's garage is a bit of an homage to that very international comic story. I can't wait to see whether or not Dewey tells anyone what he saw in that painting and if so, who. Because to me it feels like the Della mystery and Dewey being the one to really bond with Scrooge on the adventure to Atlantis is a central theme of the first season of the show. While I know they'll really get into Huey and Louie more they felt like background characters in the premier and that Dewey was the lead in the series after Scrooge. Hopefully, the mystery of what happened with Della will be something the boys and Webby explore together. They really need to bring her into the series through flashbacks at all ages so we can see Hortense and Quackmore and how they interact with Scrooge. That's something the original animated series never really touched upon when they did the whole how Scrooge became a trillionaire flashback episode.

I hope we'll know the mistery of Della in the upcoming episodes - may be closer to the end of the season. Or may be this plot line will be longer and will last for the second season as well - it would be interesting as well

I like how she starts with a sailor suit like her brother, then switch to an aviator one. I suppose the first panel is based on their appearance as children in the comics.
New headcanon: Their parents dressed them like that because it was cute. Then Donald decided he would actually have a boat and he talked at length about it. Della liked that, but decided she preferred the sky to the sea.
