Oh, religion.You make me cringe.
I'm really tired of what people (especially religious people) say/assume when they find out I don't go to church, or don't have a religion. "Oh, so you're a atheist?" No, I'm not.
My parents never went to church, so neither did I. As simple as that. I do not hate god. I just don't have a close relationship with him... and being able to step back and have a clear head when I look at people, instead of being biased because someone's Hindu and I am, say, Lutheran. When I step back and look at religion, I see how most people are so unlike the people they worship, as a example, Christians are nothing like Christ... they condemn everyone.
I had someone tell me once that because I didn't go to church, that I'd be damned to hell forever when I die. I don't fear that, don't believe in that. Somehow, I know that god has better things to do than walk around damning people to hell.
I mean, most religions boast peace, compassion, love, ect. but nobody ever practices that anymore... so does that make the person who told me that I was going to hell a hypocrite?
So what's the lesson? People who have never gone to church, ect. are not atheists. They are just neutral to god, and never got a chance to develop anything with him because of our lifestyles, or our parents' beliefs.

Im a Christian, and just a few comments. First off, going to church is not a salvation issue. If you don't go to church it doesn't mean you will go to hell. For Christians going to church is about maturing in faith, and the reason we need to do that is because yes every Christian is a hypocrite. Like you said Christians are nothing like Christ, Jesus is perfect were not. The focus of Christianity is to become more like Christ, and become closer to God. The reason it doesnt always seem like thats our goal is were going to fail many times, and two just because someone saids their a Christian doesnt mean they are a follower of the beliefs always, in other words it doesn't necessarily mean they really are a Christian. Just one question, that last thing you said is "never got a chance to develop anything with Him" but whats stopping you from going to church to have at least the chance? It might be more difficult based on what country you live in.

Being an atheist doesn't mean you "hate" god though. It just means you don't believe there exists one.

I'm not like that either, I'm completely Agnostic. I believe in the possibility that a higher being exists but I want more solid proof before I'm thoroughly convinced.
