Description I'm currently working on an animation for my 2nd year project with a group of friends. and since I've not been submitting stuffs, i thought might as well i post some process work i did for the animation.

Here is the background i did for Scene20. Panning shot. Our background concept for the INT was flat texture with some reddish brown colorings. So if you guys think its flat, It meant to be that way.

Scene 20: The Missing Body.
This is the scene where Ian (rookie detective, main char) looked back into the room after trying to communicate to the HQ with his walkie-talkie and found the body(the corpse of the suspect he was chasing) he saw earlier missing.

i kind of like it this way. The half realism nad half cartoon look gives it a dreamlike feel.

hey.. very cool. i like the lighting

maybe the textures are too realistic if what you are going for is a flat look. try smudging or blurring or "vectoring" the texture to blend in more to the scene?

but good job already. my group really loved your group's animation its awesome man. haha. good luck

ahahaha thanks.. we're looking forward to your group's animation too!

well, the texture concept is a little confusing, we want it realistic and flat at the same time, cos if its too flat, than you might not get the atmosphere. We meant flat, by not bending (is tt the vectoring you referring to?) the texture toward the angle of an object like how ray does. we just place the textures without adjusting towards the angle, like the door for an example.

hm, smudging and blurring.. i'l see what i can do. thanks!

ahh i see i see...

i get your idea of not bending the texture toward the camera angle. what i meant by vectoring is that the look and roughness of your texture itself. for example, you have black outlines going on top of your textures right? thus giving it a vector look. so I thought that maybe if you could blur your texture and give it that similar look of a vectorized texture, it could go well with the scene. not saying you should, but just a suggestion but then again, others may have a different opinion. so ask others too

good luck
