Description
Day 54/100 - There and not there...
From the sketch below made into a drypoint. This one smudged a bit. Too much ink I think. I don't have the right tools and they do not sell them here. I use what I can while I look for some of the materials. I consider this one another "AP/Artist Proof" due to too much ink etc. I thought I would make 10 from this. Hopefully enough work to make it worth while.

EXTRA INFO!
What is drypoint?
Drypoint is a traditional printmaking method. It works by engraving / scratching marks on a a smooth non-absorbent surface (like copper, zinc, plastic like PVC, plexiglass, polycarbonate etc.) using various tools. The plate is then inked and gently wiped of excess. pre soaked and dried paper is placed on top of the plate which runs through apress. The pressure of the press pushes the damp softened paper into the engraved marks of the paper to pick up the ink. The design is then transferred onto the paper, and the process can be repeated until the plate wear / flattens out. PVC or plastic produces an edition of about 10-20. Ive heard copper/zinc can do ±250. I hope I can try one day.
What is traditional Printmaking?
It's like a printer that works without electricity to print just one thing that you design by hand. And just like a real printer it constantly needs ink which has a high cost (of time to apply) and eventually it wears out and just doesn't print the same or stops working.
Major Categoies?
There are three major categories in traditional printmaking. Relief, Intaglio and Planography.
-Relief is when the ink is applied to the surface/top (like a stamp, linocut, woodcarving, etc).
-Intaglio is when the ink is pushed into the grooves and the top or surface is wiped clean before pressing (like etching, drypoint, engraving, mezzotint, etc),
-Planography is when the ink sits on top of a smooth, flat plane (like lithography, monotype, monoprint etc)
