Stave's Rest is the name of a small volcanic crater island, the second largest island in an isolated archipelago, cut off from the world by the freshwater ocean surrounding them, referred to as the Big Water.

On the northern tip of the crescent lies the Stump house, where many of the island's children live and play.

To the east from there is the town square and the marina, where many of the residents live and much of the action happens. The Town Council meets in the tavern to discuss decisions, necessities and luxuries alike are sold at the market, and boats leaving for other islands and fishing trips depart from the docks.

Most of the island is covered by the Wanderwide forest, a beautiful and mysterious wood full of creatures, food, and danger. Many residents have chosen to live away from the city, in the serenity of the woods.

Deep in the forest lies Weem's hollow, where it's rumored that all the Weems go during Weemstide.

Wrapped around the eastern rim of the island are the Roaring Cliffs, enormous cliffs that stand strong against the buffering ocean. The highest point on the island, Lookout Peak, is found here. One can see all the way to the town Square and Stump house from there! The cliffs themselves are full of sea caves and caverns, that some say are haunted, and that some strange folk supposedly call home.

On the southeastern coast, in an ancient sea cave, lives a mysterious Staxie that one can find if they need powerful transmutation magics, even able to change your very form, allowing Stax to change their biological sexes. She may even have a story or two for you....

The southern portion of the island dominated by farmlands, rolling fields of grain, beautiful orchards, and verdant pastureland. At the southern tip of the crescent, the largest farm on the island resides on the sea rocks, the Crub Ranch. Much of the islands meat is farmed here, and many young Stax have their first job tending the many crubs that call it home.

Between the Crescent tips lies the town's main defense system, the net gate. A large , weighted net lies between the rocks and shoals, sinking from the surface all the way down to the ocean floor, keeping anything much larger than a crub from entering the sheltered harbor. Beyond the net, much bigger, more dangerous creatures lie, waiting to be discovered....
