Description Hmm under development in Blender 3D 2.49

Ok.. after goofing of by giving 21st Century warfare stuff to my twisted universe of Valkyria Chronicles..

Time to get something that more reasonable..somewhat.

Hmm here depicted Gallian "Gladiators" G-14 ragnite engine powered fighter aircraft in flight.

These aircraft were the last to be evacuated from Fouzen aircraft factory to another base in Gallia, following the Imperial advance.

This aircraft were among the most advanced land and carrier based aircraft in 1935.

Gladiator is armed with a pair of synchronized 14,5mm AEM-14,5 machineguns ahead of cockpit and wing mounted 23mm GC-23 Auto Cannon which uses gast principles to achieve high firing rate.

A nice design overall.

I'll point out the two bubbles that I think are holding the main landing gear. My guess is that you could have placed the gear inside the wings or the fuselage just as easily, without those horrible bulges there Furthermore I believe the two 14mm cals are a tad bit too big, they should easily fit into the cowling without sticking out like that (or at the very most with some Bf-109 G-6 esque bulges).

Another thought that comes to my mind is the placement of the elevators. I'd have moved them up a bit to avoid damage on ground and maybe too much interaction with the wing or similar.

I really like the cockpit though, reminds me of the Zeke's.

Thanks for the visit.

Hmm and as for the podded landing gear.. although it may look ungainly but i consider it's the best placement where the wheel can be animated more easily.

Furthermore the exposed landing gear and the pod, may add drag though but it will provide more safety in case of belly landing, pretty much like A-10 podded landing gear does.

Well as for elevator placement..there shouldn't be any problem with wing wakes interaction (which occur at supersonic speeds) and Gladiator will fly subsonic so there wouldn't be any problem.

And armaments.. hmm those are only "place holders" as i haven't make any measurement in caliber.

Good point on the landing gear, although I'd still have preferred something à la FW 190 if you wanted to have good landing characteristics.

But it's true that it's easier to animate this way, I've come across that problem myself.

Well to my knowledge the problem with the elevators placed like that might be that the flow separation on the wing (even at subsonic speeds) may render them useless.

On the other hand stalling might also be an issue with such a configuration. It may put the elevators directly into the wake of the stalled wing.

Although I'm really not sure at the moment, so yeah

I should check my aerodynamics books on that at some point.

Yes and it occurs at Supersonic speed.

For reference you may look at Raymer : Aircraft Design 2nd Edition..for tail placement. That's where i "get the place" of the tail.

Might be a nice read, I may look into it when I get the time.

I'm currently using Anderson's Introduction to Flight for my studies, there might be something about tail placement in that one as well.

And this is the Raymer's graphics on Tail location.

You see that best position for tail is actually..below the wing level (hence Su-27 and F-15 have its horizontal tail below the wing level). While placement in-line with the wing is acceptable for subsonic speed.

I agree based on this diagram it makes sense, that is at least for not stalling the elevators. Did some wrong thinking myself there.

very nice. is this a ground attack aircraft? I was designing a fighter/interceptor...

hmm it's a carrier based one.. mainly for interceptor.. but may carry ground attack mission.

At first i was going to say "That looks nothing like a Gloster Gladiator". Then I noticed it was a fictional design

Very cool. Although I thought they hadn't gotten this far in aircraft design in the Valkyria Chronicles universe by 1935.

Thanks.

and well.. we know that there are no airplanes in VC..which hmm for me it's kinda sad.

But in my own hacked version of VC universe.. they will have planes and aircraft carriers.. then ISARA SURVIVED teh Mulberry Assault.

But it's a war game. Important/loved characters have to die. #1 rule of the genre.

Unless it's a comedy. Then everyone usually makes it out alive.

Ah well my middlefinger for that rule..

actually i don't really mind for such "rule of thumb" however WHY THEY MUST KILL ISARAAAAAAA.. I'm sooo sad .. even i was almost cry watching that 17th episode.

Well, if you feel that way, it means the writers succeeded
