Description
drawn for an ask about the differences between my Underfell skelebros and their mainline counterparts. physically, they're pretty much the same.Papyrus serves as Royal Warden while Sans the custodian spends his time mopping floors and trying to keep his brother's hope up. yep, it's a regular utopian living!
their designs are still a WIP so please bear with me OTL

I have to admit, Underfell never quite drew me in because a lot of it seemed to be grimdark for the sake of, well, being grimdark.Β (Admittedly, that was a somewhat at-a-glance first impression I got from the pictures I saw and their descriptions.)Β Your version of the 'fell skelebros actually kind of intrigues me.Β I get a sense that the Sans and Papyrus we know is somewhere buried in there, battered and bruised and changed but ultimately still - at their core - themselves.Β Like Gaster, it's the sense that they began as the same people.Β That it was circumstances that warped them, not that they were born as related though distinctly different characters.
Poor Papyrus.Β Although he's never had lights to his eyes, he just looks so dead-eyed here.Β Like he's trying so very hard to follow through on what's expected of him, but it's taken a terrible toll.Β There's a feeling of hopelessness, which is really awful coming from someone who we know as a very optimistic and hopeful person.Β Sans kind of seems the same as his normal counterpart, if a lot more battered in heart.Β But Sans had a nihilistic streak, anyway, and was willing to use dirty tactics if he had to.Β He's probably the one more suited to a dystopian setting, attitude-wise, though I can see how he'd be a lot more worn down since he doesn't have Papyrus' normal vigor and bounce to bolster him.Β I'm super curious about their relationship with Gaster, being that they are brothers.Β It would be a guess that Gaster (as king) was the one who set Papyrus as Royal Warden, and possibly was the one to keep Sans at such a menial job to both keep him close to Papyrus and to keep him out of danger (on the assumption that Sans' one-hit wonder defense abilities makes it too risky for him to get into fights).

It's interesting that Gaster is the one responsible for the change.Β From what little I've seen of him, it certainly seems in character to do so!Β Ah, poor Papyrus, it doesn't surprise me that he would be the last one to hold out against it.Β I'm intrigued now if I was anywhere close to guessing his reasons, though given that Sans had a cushier job before maybe it was more of a punishment for something.Β Hmmmm!Β Of course, I'll just have to speculate until things are revealed in story XD .
I've been really inactive lately on DA, so you aren't the only one being slow.Β There are pictures I need to comment on that I haven't gotten to yet.Β I understand the nitpicking thing.Β I do that all the time when I try to write.Β Usually, I have to mentally smack my hand so I don't edit while I'm writing a first draft.Β First drafts are for getting the raw story down, edits are for later.Β Not sure how one would attempt a similar approach for a comic.
