If you thought that Ghost Rider was all evil and demonic, then you're wrong. He is also secretly the Angel of Justice (Zarathos from GR Spirit of Vengeance) whose main goal is to be the protector of the world of mankind before he became the prisoner of hell and was driven insane, hence turning him into Spirit of Vengeance (though he did retain his strong sense of justice).The 7th crossover fan art of Ghost Rider (Marvel) and Felicia (Capcom).

I actually prefer the modern origin of Zarathos to the original because the new origin humanizes Zarathos , something the character desperatelyΒ needed . Older GR fans say the new origin ruined the character , I`d argue it actually saved The Character and made him far more interesting ! What do they want ? The old one-dimensional villain Zarathos and convoluted storyarcs of The `90s ?

They actually got that from the Jason Aaron Ghost Rider run, in which the Riders were revealed as secret weapons of heaven to fight evil on Earth when the angels couldn't directly intervene. However, that was the same arc where an evil angel named Zadkiel manipulated an ex-Ghost Rider named Dan Ketch (from the 90s GR comics) into killing all of the other Riders so that Zadkiel could funnel their powers into himself to take over Heaven. The miniseries Ghost Riders: Heaven's On Fire ultimately saw Johnny and Dan come back together to defeat Zadkiel, alongside all the other Riders that had ever existed, and from there is where my knowledge gets a bit murky. All the same, I thought Ghost Rider being an angel all along was a really good twist, since the actual Biblical descriptions of angels were very frightening and even in human form they had to tell mortal observers not to be afraid. Plus, Felicia/Ghost Rider is a sweet couple, and I'm kind of ashamed I didn't think of it before.

Don't worry, as you have seen in Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance, the Angel (Zarathos)'s holy blue flame can be used to resurrect those who appear to be dead, just like Blaze saved the boy Danny after he was killed from the crash of the car after the chase.

Revealed in the film that the angel inside the rider was not purely dead after all, just like Anakin skywalker inside Darth Vader wasn't in Return Of The Jedi.
