Description From the Battletech book "Intelligence Operations Handbook", FASA, 2003.
Yet another drawing of the far future with floppy discs. Ugh.
Model: Deborak Merrick. The man was loosly based on Vancouver comic artist Colin Upton.

Good to know 3.5 inch floppies come into use again in the 31st century. I've been using mine as coasters

Heh. There was at least one scene in a BattleTech novel - a 'Gray Death' story, I think - which made a big deal about how BattleMechs were not equipped to pick up video transmissions. That was how the Big Hero Mercenary Leader did not know that he'd been set up as a mass-murdering lunatic.

Seriously.

You got the feeling that the insides of a 'Mech's cockpit - behind all the glass-fronted analog dials, brass switches, and clutch levers - it was all just a mess of clockwork and vacuum tubes.

Ha! Sad but kind of true.

Mind you, I think I'd really enjoy playing a diesel punk version of Battletech!

Friend of mine combined Mechwarrior and Shadowrun once, but the game mechanics are impossibly complicated trying to adapt to battletech. A round takes long enough as it is. A shame though

Interesting idea though!

I think BattleTech is just stuck in a permanent 80s throwback era. With giant robots. Mechpilots probably have cassette decks in their cockpits as well.

LOL. I guess we'll see how modern giant robots work when Pacific Rim comes out! I'll keep my eyes peeled for casette decks...
