You did these, too? Dang. These are still getting reused in books today to show LRMs and CASE.

Looking through your archives here I have to say (in my humble and subjective opinion, of course) that you did the better stuff for FASA. Matt Plog was good and had some distinctive designs, but he suffered a lot from over-stylizing everything, where your lines tend to be clean and crisp and feel more like a realistic (for Soft Sci-Fi values of "realistic") take than Plog's more fanciful and immersion-breaking stuff.

Oh lord, the merc lances in the campaign I'm playing in need this SO BAD. So far we've lost three mechs to ammo explosions. But we did learn the valuable lesson 'never turn your back on the enemy if you're a missile boat'...

"Cellular Ammunition Storage Equipment (CASE)". Something to keep your ammo from blowing up.

It's a C.A.S.E. ammunition store. It is outfitted with sections that deliberately blow out when the ammo explodes due to a critical hit. But they blow outwards, away from the core of the mech, to save the internals and the fusion reactor from the blast.

C.A.S.E. is a godsend for a lot of the old 3025-era BattleMech designs, which were walking ammunition dumps. My gaming group back in the day lost several of their machines due to unlucky 'direct hit' results on their missile bays.
