Description www.steampunker.de

Fully working Steampunk workstation consisting of a computer table, a computer, a monitor, a wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse. The table was build from an old Singer sewing machine. The wood was completely reapplied (the patina retained). Three compartments provide storage space for small items. The PC was installed in an old wooden radio cabinet.

Thanks a lot for your interest and your comments!!! i feel overrun by the comments, so i cant answer every single comment.

but yes, every piece is full working. there is a short movie-clip on my youtube-channel. Also there was an TV report that shows how this workstation was made (but in german only).

Were you inspired by the Colt & Maxwell Typing Engine, an all-mechanical word processor in one of the foundational steampunk novels? It had treadle power so that it could be installed in offices that didn't have domestic steam service.

the inspiration for this kind of work comes from novels from Jules Verne, H.G.Wells or other retrofuturistic novels...

Nicely designed and executed concept.  Tough to turn into a loptop though, don't you think?  And if only the whole machine worked off of the treadle!  A Green, Steampunk Computer.  Take that, Sony!!!!!

use wired, cheap energy efficient pc, underclock for long lasting performance and age, and put more garbage for decoration.

Totally excellent work.  Would be nice to have a higher resolution image so we could zoom in on details, though.  You could use a different back drop (red velvet!) and do photos of this that would make good wall papers or pictures.
