Nice. I could definitely get behind this setup (I love older tech). But does it have a floppy drive?...
I love the detail on this--especially the typewriter keyboard and the crank in the monitor.
Excellent work!

Wow! That's REALLY COOL! You must have spent a long time on working on that. How long did you take?

Notice where this is classified. "Artisan Crafts / Metal Work." Not to mention, "fully functional."

You've destroyed a typewriter for that, didn't you?

No, he repurposed one. If it were DESTROYED, it would be in pieces. All of the parts, minus the interior, seem to be there.

That's still taking apart a typewriter. I hope he used the interior mechanisms for something else, like fixing another typewriter.
Even then, as a typewriter enthusiast, I'm still crying on the inside.

He's probably gonna use, or has used, the interior in some other steampunk stuff. The typewriter probably didn't work, anyway. There's no reason to take apart a fully functional typewriter.

People do it all the time. It's called key chopping. Many people throw away fully functional typewriters after they do this. Besides, most just need cleaned and oiled, but are written off as junk. It's sad.

I would never destroy what still works! I like old typewriters too and respekt the old craftmanship. I am looking for broken machines and use their parts. If I divide a machine, I use all the parts.

That's awesome. I hate key-choppers with a passion. It's a horrible thing to do with such beautiful machines.
If you ever want to, there are people who restore their own typewriters. I'm sure they would appreciate whatever parts you don't use.
As it is, I found an old Smith&Sons No. 5 that is missing the part with the artwork, so I basically have to buy a parts machine because I don't want to use a decal. Mine still works even though it's caked with Mojave Desert dust from sitting in my grandma's shed.

Sorry, I replied to your comment thinking you were steamworker. I have an awkward habit of replying to people without making sure they're the right person.

How cool! Did you make this keyboard yourself? The use of all these antique items is really fabulous.
