I'm going a little bit out of order here, but this was one of those drawings that fell out of my hand onto the paper and I fell so in love with i just couldn't stop working on it.My favorite Saturday morning cartoon growing up was the 90's X-Men animated series. And like many other little boys, i idolized Gambit. And even though my tastes have changed and my favorite characters have changed, I will always have a particular fondness to Gambit. So when the picture on the calendar was of this girl playing with a playing card, i knew i had to draw a female Gambit.
A first for my DaDs, I attempted to use some of the techniques I picked up in my life drawing class for shading, using a tiny little blending tool that Jeff gave me to smooth out the shades. It had a tremendous effect, and you bet your ass I colored it.

Thank you for pointing this out! But, I do not believe in this case that artist is stealing. A lot of artists use other art as reference/inspiration or even subject matter for something to use while they practice drawing. The only issue would be if they were to try to sell the art as their own.

yes - the background is a solid colour, separate from the flats (rogue is done on 1 layer) and the lines are a 3rd layer - RGB, all not anti-aliased, as they should be

LOL!! i was soo confused when i saw this on another page. [link] I saw it and was thinking "Wow Rouge looks great!" But then i was like wait "Ehh..Gambit?" I wasn't sure if she took over her powers or it was a female Gambit.
Gambit has always been my fav along with Rouge.
Marvel should have an alternate universe based on the chracters being the opposite sex. I see alot of it on DA and most of them are good

ACTUALLY, Marvel has a TON of alternate universes, and one of them features a gender swap in the way you are speaking of. There is a series called "Exiles" that had a really good run that visited tons of alternate realities. Really good series and show cased a lot of interesting concepts.

yeah i know about a few alternate universes(like with bishop) but it's been soolong since i read/watched X-men to remember them in detail. didn't know they had a gender swap. i'll have to look for it. thanks
