That sure can be a disturbing moment, and to add insult to injury, you can't revive helpers who got crushed by solid objects.
Shame too, since Chef Kawasaki's Souper Supper sure comes in handy whenever you're running short on healing items. Unfortunately, the longer cooldown period at The Ultimate Choice means that you'll have to plan when to use the move, especially on the higher intensity levels.
And to make matters worse, Kawasaki isn't exactly that strong of an attacker without Souper Supper, though his Ladle can help him attack enemies from a distance; this is especially notable when fighting mid-bosses and bosses, since they're impervious to flinching, and you'll take damage if you touch them in any way without intangibility.

That is a good excuse not to have Kawasaki as a partner.

Yeah, i'll definitely summon them next time with the dream rod while playing with the mages, because the sisters already are really strong fighters. Also Adeleine and Ribbon are very good and various characters themselves, even one of the best in my opinion.

kinda reminds me when i was playing the new mode in star allies, and it was marx' turn, the poor allies all got squished under a falling rock while marx just stood there unaware, I imagine he found it funny, mostly because i was controlling him

Well, we should never forget, that Marx is a villain after all.
But for real: i don't say, that the AI of the star allies in this game is low (but also not the highest), but there are always moments, when they do something really extraordinary stupid.

yea
when i did Daroach's guest star mode, the ai wouldn't do squat for me in a puzzle, i had to do everything myself. Had an electric puzzle with a waddle doo, it stood there like a dumbass, a flaming chain with a driblee, the stupid fish sat there staring at it.
