A nice Photo. Where I live I sometimes see herons standing very near the streets like they are watching the cars driving by. But if you draw slow and want to stop they fly away. And I often see them flying over my village and they even land on the roof of a house and look around. Its because they are little creeks who flow through the villages.

Thank you! Some years ago it was very hard to see herons in my town and in the fields around my home, there was a lot of water pollution... But two years ago I started seeing something new: now herons, cormorants and wild mallards fly over my house's rooftop, and sometimes I can go very close to them!

Yeah, same was here. I remember about twenty-five years ago there was no birds of prey or herons to see, but now, in the last ten years I recognize more and more birds like buzzards, falcons and the herons coming back in my environment. Even a few comorants I have seen here, although there were not so much fish in the rivers and creeks here. Environment protection is neccessary.
