Beautiful! Printed this out to enjoy at work. Will be happy to buy a print if you ever have them made up!
What software packages did you use? Max? Modo?Β

Ah! This is great! I've seen tons of steampunk-style recruiting posters, but never anything with dieselpunk. The fact that the weapon appears to be a flamethrower is just the cherry on top, too.

Thanks a lot ! Glad you liked the picture.
This is the very image that made me "wordly famous", since Wikipedia chose it to illustrate the entries for "Dieselpunk" :

and "Retrofuturism" :

I used to have an metal sign that was a promotion for the old streamline trains that looked like this. In the US they were called Burlington Flyers I think. Eventually I sold the sign so I don't have it any more.

My inspiration often comes from stuff I own, too : old books or magazines, comics, ads, packaging, commercial stuff, etc... That sort of worthless junk is an endless souce of ideas to me.

Not a thing but a great book tying into the age is 1939: The Lost World of the Fair. It's about the 1939 World's Fair in NYC -- which both of my parents went to as children. (My dad still has the pin showing the Tryon and Perisphere.) The book intercuts a fictional (but true-to-life) story with a non-fiction analysis of the zeitgeist of the time -- architecture, social ideas, dreams for the future, etc. Really amazing book.
