Description
Milky Way Animation Youtube Link: [link]I have a new obsession, and that is Maya, a 3D animation software.
So I have begun teaching myself how to use it, and after a week or so, This is one of the things I made
This is a 3D Model of our Milky Way galaxy, A collection of 300 Billion starts Spanning nearly a Million Trillion Miles
among which our sun is only an average star in that swarm
So yah ^^
To see this animated (spinning) click on the link above ^^
And look forward to stills and videos of my science projects in addition to my drawings, and hopefully later some fun and interesting Science videos ^^
On the note of science videos, I want to revamp my Youtube channel with said science videos... I was thinking of having some of them be based on questions from followers, both on DA and Youtube, and so I was wondering.
Do YOU have any good questions about science? Especially astronomy?
If so let me know... and I just might make my first video on it

Thanks ^^
I've been toying with the idea of creating YouTube videos or something about space for fun / education ^^
Maybe I'll have time this winter break to work on that, we'll see

That would be pretty cool! (sorry for the super late reply) Hope your school year has gone well! Lets see, junior or senior? Anyway you'll have to let me know about the YouTube videos if you get around to them!!

I'm a senior, I've been pretty busy so far, which Is why I've been so inactive this year
Though I hope to change that soon, I'm going to start posting stuff again, though this time not just sketches, also 3d stuff, paintings and other projects
How have you been? ^^

Hmm, yup, that's a busy year. Lol that's what I keep telling myself too, specially since I found my mouse...but...still too busy. 18 hours this semester with Spanish 4 and Calc 1 is no fun. (postponing on spanish hw right now lol) That sounds fun though, did you have fun working on them/ are you having fun working on them?
Really just busy, and tired, but when I try to go to bed I can't sleep -_- but eh still getting enough sleep I guess. How about you? And have you decided for sure where you want to go next year?

Found your mouse?
I'm doing Calc 2... for the first time really I'm starting to have trouble with math, I don't get vectors...
I like drawing and working on projects... but if I fall behind then it's not fun
I hear you
I found out which colleges I get into in early april... that's when I get to figure everything out

For my laptop, I told myself I would do some art after I found it. One of the things I wanted to do again was my coveralls pic. I've got different ones this year so...I've been tempted, just haven't got around to it.
Well If I have problems I'll ask you! bleck I've got the first test on Thursday and I'm not really sure what to expect. And not being able to have a calculator is going to suck (I'm very bad with mental math and I make stupid mistakes with simple math all the time). Vectors? as in like Vector from despicable me? An arrow with direction and magnitude? lol that's the extent of my knowledge on them...
Hmm, yeah. Fall behind where you think you should be? Yeah, I hate that feeling...
Oh, so you still have some time to be thinking, huh?

Cool ^^
Why'd you get new ones?
I lost my tablet pen... which is annoying >_<
Vectors like direction and magnitude... but then throw in imaginary numbers, 3D planes, multiplication of vectors... and a bunch of crazy stuff...
Yah... Though I'm pretty sure I know where I want to go
I've actually been thinking of making a music video about the solar system on a random side note

Well...They're not exactly new there just different from last year because Dad just grabbed the first ones he thought might fit me off the back porch.
Bleck, yup! Now you understand my lost mouse. XP
Yuck. I had my first Calc test last night. I don't think it was too bad the only problem I know I didn't get (but I'm hoping for partial credit) is lim x->0 sin^2(3x)/xsin(7x) I had no idea what to do with the sin^2 so I just tried something. oh well. Then I had a Spanish 4 quiz today (ick) idk how to feel about that one but.....ughhh...lol XD So sorry it took me so long to reply, but I've been busy studying my eyes out...
Cool, Cool, that's always good.
That sound awesome!! And very informative or fun? or both?

They're "New to you"
What's different about 'em?
Do you get to use your calculators on tests?
Don't be sorry it took you so long, it's me that took too long
Both of course! I've kinda thought about doing something like that like bill nye the science guy for a while... but not I think I have what it takes to make good videos, I'm already working on the lyrics and animation ^^ and am starting to figure out the music... after I teach myself some basic music theory about chords

Well since Dad just randomly grabbed them they're really long in the torso, so they drag on the ground by my heels. And the sleeves are a touch long. Oh, and they're tan instead of blue. Just overall a bit on the large side. But that's okay plenty of room for layering.
Nope, no calculators. (which is why I got some points taken off for some reason simple math is really hard for me to do in my head without screwing it up) But we do get a "cheat sheet" which is one page that we can write whatever we want one the front and back of it and take with us to the test.
And I have to disagree with you there, this time it really was me that took too long.
That sounds super awesome! Hmm, yeah I think I might be learning some of that stuff in my Music 405 class. I think once you start to get into it though it's not too difficult. so you'll put the videos up on youtube? will you have a link from your DA to your youtube and vice verse?
Have you ever studied a foreign language (I feel like I've asked you before..but...)?
Anything super new with you? Anything super exciting coming up?

StefanPWinc In reply to ilrb700 [2013-02-23 02:54:27 +0000 UTC]
^^ Still cool :3
A cheat sheet huh? see... if I wanted to I could "Cheat" and put stuff in my calculator or find programs or something... but since we have to show a bunch of work that might not work out
Yah, I'll put it up on you tube, and post a preview with a link on DA ^^ ... and maybe link back to my DA
Yes, I grew up learning English and Dutch, and have studied Spanish (know next to nothing now) German (know a bit) French (Know a fair amount) and ASL (Know a bit)
What about you? ^^
New huh? Umm... Besides counting down the days (37) until I hear back from most of my colleges, having an art and gym class for the first time since middle school (to get in required classes... and also because I probably SHOULD do both), and my continued work on the project (going to try to get a rough draft of the music done and start some of the simpler animation this weekend) Not really
Anything new with you? Is Marching band season over? or starting or... something

The milkyway is a collection of 300 billion stars, gas, dust, a supermassive black hole and a surrounding halo of dark matter.
Our earth is in a solar system, orbiting a... oh wait... was this a suggestion?

youneversee In reply to StefanPWinc [2012-12-02 01:54:29 +0000 UTC]
ok so if we're in a solar system and the milkyway is a universe. right? then this makes me ask another question in mass effect they have sever solar systems in close groups that you could fly around in, do you know what the groups are called and why they chose that in the game?
no i was really asking about the name
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
StefanPWinc In reply to youneversee [2012-12-02 02:11:33 +0000 UTC]
Not exactly, The milkyway is a cluster of billions of stars and such, but there are Billions of other clusters, galaxies that is, in our universe.
Our Milkyway is just 100
Those groups are not an accurate portrayal of solar system distribution, they are not an accurate representation, as they just show a few starts near the gates.
The cloud things in the background are nebulae, this is where stars are born from interstellar dust and gas, and where planets form from planetary accretion disks
Oh, Ok then ^^ then ask away!

StefanPWinc In reply to youneversee [2012-12-02 02:38:01 +0000 UTC]
We can see galaxies, we can see millions and billions of them. The milkyway is just the galaxy we're in, and we can't actually see it from the outside, to us the milkyway looks like this [link]
because we are inside of it, when we look towards the center we see the white glow of stars, and dark clouds of gas blocking our view.
The closest major galaxy to us is M31, AKA the andromeda galaxy, it is slightly bigger than us, having more stars, a heavier black hole, but about same overall mass (thanks to a smaller dark matter halo) It is a spiral galaxy, but it does not have a bar like our milkyway
This apears about 5 times as wide as the full moon, and is 20 milkyway-diameters away
[link]
The farthest galaxies that we can see are an astounding 13.5 billion light years away, since the universe is only 13.75 billion years old, these pictures alow us to see into the infancy of the universe, as galaxies where just beginning to form.
This Hubble picture, taken over 22 days of exposure time, shows galaxies 10 billion times fainter than the human eye could see, and dating back 13.2 billion years, 78,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 miles away, at the edge of the observable universe

I really should make a video about this, huh? ^^
