Here's a little update to the character I created for my animation class. My professor told me to draw other kinds of dogs, so I ended up with a chihuahua. I also decided to give the character more stylized breasts and smaller hips rather than the really large hips that were present in the first design since this new one would be much more appropriate for a chihuahua character. I also decided to give her a longer neck. I'm actually starting to become attached to this character. Will she ever become a full fledged character? We'll see.Related content

I don't know how to tell you this, but I liked her initial design best.
The breasts look odd and the small hips kind o throw her off balance. She doesn't look like she could physically stand the way her body is to me.
I also think that the viking hat looks a bit off since she's wearing a dress style very different from that of vikings.

It just seems really off to me.
I'd suggest widening her hips a bit more to balance out her rather large chest.

Well you see, the point was to actually get some interesting shapes in this character. My professor told me that were not actually drawing a character, but rather we're building one with shapes. I kind felt that the initial design didn't have enough interesting shapes.

I'm not sure I agree.
I think it's good to have interesting shapes, but I just don't think the torso being so large compared to her small body just doesn't suit her. I think it looks unflattering on her.

Hmm... now all the feed back I got on this is really conflicting. By the way, the reason why she's wearing a viking helmet is because she's suppose to be an opera singer. You probably should have caught that from reading the description to the previous design. If you look carefully here, she's actually wearing breast plates with a corset. It's suppose to be an opera outfit.

I did see the breast plates, but I feel life her outfit should fit more to a viking so that confusion of that doesn't happen. I think it should read more easily.
I suggest drawing her in on of those paneled viking skirts to help convey that more easily.

What about her saucy personality? I kind of think I should still stick to the idea of her dress showing off some leg.

Okay, so if you don't know or remember, the story follows Cherry trying to make it in Hollywood. Every episode will be about her and follow her trying to do something.
A lot o the times, she's specifically trying to get a part or attempting to sneak into the studio.
I thought that the villain could be this tall slim bitter lady. She's kind of the dream crusher who gets in Cherry's way of seeing her name in lights.
Cherry and this woman will go back and forth A LOT and the lady hates Cherry.

That sounds like a really cool idea. So Cherry tries to sneak into a set and the tall lady tries to kick her out? Is that what the premise is? That sounds like it could be played for laughs.

I thought it could be an amusing on going thing. Sort of like Tom and Jerry or Road Runner and the Coyote.
I also have ideas for two movie star characters.
One is a prissy, bratty, and difficult star that threatens to quit if she doesn't get what she wants (many have to beg on their hands and knees for her... literally), and the other is that classic movie star that every girl fawns over even though he's all about himself.

As of now, Cherry looks like a bad version of another character and I want her to be original.

Probably, but I'm still going to keep her iconic hair and make her a bit hippy.
Her overall look will still be the same. I'm just going to play around with how I draw it.
I might play around with other outfits and such, but her main features won't change.
The thing I like about Cherry is the fact that I think she's got a intentionally very iconic look. I've always wanted a character of mine to look iconic.

It was alright. Messing around at the meeting on Friday, then I started working on another painting, then I was watching audio commentary for Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

I once watched Beauty and the Beast 2 times in a row. First I watched the original, but then I watched a commentary of the entire movie. It was neat.
Fun fact!
You know that scene where Belle and the Beast are dancing in the ballroom right before the movie ends? Well, did you know that the dancing sequence was taken from the dance sequence that Aurora and Philip shared at the end of Sleeping Beauty? If you watch the two and compare you can totally tell that's true. They did it to save time.
