Description

Osamu Tezuka's "Vampira" is a work from 1966. It was adapted into a live-action television show starring Yutaka Mizutani. The transformation into a wolf is a unique aspect of the anime.

This work overlaps with Tezuka's other works like "Astro Boy" and "Phoenix" during a prolific period in his career.

One of the highlights of this work is that Tezuka introduced the character Rock from his star system as a villain for the first time. The star system is Tezuka's unique system where characters like Higeoyaji, Kenichi, and Lamp are cast in various roles in different works, much like actors in movies.

Another interesting aspect is that Tezuka himself appears as an important character in the story.

Now, let me tell you about a day when I, a grade schooler, started collecting Tezuka's manga. One day, the owner of a local bookstore spoke to me for the first time, saying, "You like Tezuka, don't you?"

I was thrilled and thought, "Oh, he noticed that I'm collecting Tezuka's manga!" It was probably the first time I felt acknowledged by an adult, and I was very happy. From then on, he started ordering Tezuka's manga that were available and would inform me when new ones arrived. Of course, by "new ones," he meant older ones that were in stock, but it was a wonderful gesture. So, my collection of Tezuka's manga on my bookshelf gradually grew.
