Description
Here is my latest acrylic painting that I FINALLY managed to finish after also FINALLY completing my 4 year degree!
I managed to receive a Highly Commended certificate for my work in the exhibition that it is currently hanging in.
This painting evolves around mental health awareness, where the ties around her hands are meant to be symbolic. I'd be interested to see how people interpret the piece for themselves.

Wow. There is so much going on in this piece. I love the depth of the details. The fine line details in the ties to the blurry figure in the background, that is reaching out...stunning. It says a lot without using words. Is she tied to herself? Is she unable to reach out for help....even though she tries...she is being held back by the bonds that have her wrapped up. The fact that she is out of focus..she is blurry in the background, to me says that she feels faded...disconnected from the details of the live she is reaching for...The brick wall behind her...seems insignificant, but she leans more on the walls she has build up. Why? For protection? For her safety. To keep others out, even though she wants to be connected? It looks to me like she is winning her battle to be free of her bonds. Some are broken. She is reaching out to break free of that which keeps her away from her life.

Maybe it's all those psych classes i took in college and that funny lil paper they gave me too after 6 years.
Whoever how I perceive this is not so much a help as a surrealistic (sorta) representation of a form of mental manipulation about to begin ( yes i COULD expound but that's be it mostly in a nutshell)

So powerful! Congratulations on your achievements! My first impression of the painting was that strings around fingers symbolize things you must remember, but she has strings on all her fingers, tying her up like a puppet, so she feels like she has lost control of her own life because of all things she must remember to do or to conform to. Also she's reaching out in a gesture of asking for help.
Maybe I'm just projecting, hehe!

Yes! Thanks for sharing your interpretation! That's very similar to what I was thinking when I chose to paint this. The strings are also meant to show how mental illness can feel like you physically have no control over both your body and mind.
