Hurrah for a hope emote fail!
The idea was to have the grey emote be without hope (hence the loss in colour) and then for the green one to come along and give it some words of encouragement, making the hope and colour come back and then toddling off. But now it just looks like some kind of alien invasion..
It's not, I swear! 
So err, yeah.
I also saw that there was a single white pixel in every single frame when I added the file to dA, so I had to go through and remove this pixel from each frame, woo. Sorry for the long artist comment by the way, I just figured I'd add a story to the emote.

Now this has put a really big smile on my face, specially as I ahave also been feeling a little down lately. Even with no voices, this emote brings such a beam of life back into myself and it most certainly will do for anyone else who has a first look at it.
I was wondering what this emote was all about at first but the message was very clear, and boy it's so sweet. The cheery faces, the animation, the colour that springs back into the grey body. The only constructive crit I have here is the fact that it cycles too fast! It's such a sweet emote that it would have been better for it to be a little slower, maybe adding more emotions and possibly a happy tear? The emote is very nice and sweet, but it would have beeen better if the whole animation where you gain a red colour back was slower, giving that extra awesome sence of sweetness y'know.

I like it a lot especially how it's all been laid out. I understand the story and I think it's quite clarified from the first few frames of playing this emoticon.
The only criticism I can make is that the transition is a bit too fast, it just seems that the encouragement doesn't seem very "long-term" and that the words of encouragement fades out a bit too fast.
I'm not quite sure about the emoticon changing colour. It seems like paint has been dropped on him. What about a fade effect?
Perhaps an idea of the receiver (the red guy) lets out a sigh then turns grey. Just a suggestion.
Overall, very good. You have my seal of approval and bukkit.
