I made these model sheet character designs of Lex Luthor as President of the United States of America (Luthor is originally from Action Comics #23 (1940) "Europe at War" by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, reprinted in Superman Chronicles volume 3), Zviad Baazovi as President of Russia (also known as "Bad Samaritan," Baazovi is from The Outsiders #3 (1986) "Pawns of the Bad Samaritan! Breaking the Bank!" by Mike W Barr and Jim Aparo), Kim Ishti as Supreme Leader of North Korea (Ishti is from Sensation Comics #10 (1942) "The Danger of Dolly Dancer" by William Moulton Marston and Harry Peter, reprinted in Wonder Woman Chronicles volume 2) and Albrecht Krieger as Luthor's Chief Advisor and National Security Council pick (also known as "Captain Nazi," trying to conceal his Swastika under his coat and scarf but the wind blows his scarf out of place revealing his Swastika. Krieger is from Master Comics #12 (1941) "The Coming of Captain Nazi" by Bill Woolfolk and Mac Raboy, reprinted in Shazam! Archives volume 4). The original axis of evil dictators were Hitler, Mussolini and Tojo. It makes sense for Luthor, Baazovi, Ishti and Krieger to unit since they are on the same side of political dictatorial fascism. Also, they are each enemies of four superhero icons. Luthor is Superman's arch enemy, Baazovi "Bad Samaritan" is a Batman and the Outsiders enemy, Ishti is a Wonder Woman enemy and Krieger "Captain Nazi" is Captain Marvel's enemy.I used Anthony Hopkins and Donald Trump as my models for Luthor. I used Vladimir Putin as my model for Zviad Baazovi. I used Asian Kim Jong-Un as my model for Asian Ishti and I used Dolph Lundgren and Adolf Hitler as my models for Albrecht Krieger. To be truly faithful and authentic, DC should go back to the roots of the characters, including their retro fashion.
DC is likely concerned about the reputations of literally portraying Donald Trump, Putin, Jong-Un and Steve Bannon as villains, and offending Trump and Trump supporter readers, Putin, etc. so Luthor, Baazovi, Ishti and Krieger are the perfect symbolic metaphors for relevance to what's happening in the world with the Presidency. DC should reboot and remake the Luthor as President concept. The concept was valid but the interpretation was weak. On the other hand, the Cobblepot as Mayor concept in Batman Returns got it right with the schemes and tricks. Political dirty tricks and smear tactics. Trump's campaign for President reminds me of Penguin's campaign for Mayor. And Batman using Penguin's own recorded words against him, is the same thing the Clinton's did, using Trump's own recorded words against him, in TV ads. Trump's campaign heads Paul Manafort and Roger Ailes remind me of Max Shreck. Donald Trump Jr reminds me of Chip Shreck. Bruce Wayne was in the US Senate in The Brave and The Bold #85 (1969) "The Senator's Been Shot" written by Bob Haney, art by Neal Adams. I could also see Bruce Wayne having a private email and them trying to smear him for it. Or trying to frame Bruce Wayne for a terrorist attack and deaths of Wayne employees at a Wayne Tech branch in Benghazi. Or trying to vilify Bruce Wayne for his womanizing playboy reputation, parallels to Bill Clinton. Back to Luthor as President, in the documentary The Legion of Doom: The Pathology of the Super Villain, Mark Waid explained in 2008, "Luthor's ultimate upperhand came in 2000 when he decided, 'You know what? This world would be better if I were president of the United States' and declared his candidacy. His public persona was such that he won. And Superman didn't do anything to stop it because it never occurred to Superman that the American people didn't know what he knew. It didn't occur to him that they would ever vote for Luthor. So we got four years of the world's greatest super villain in the white house. Draw you're own allegories here." Luthor by default would not make a good President because Luthor is not a good person. The writers couldn't seem to come up with Trump's narcissistic schemes and tricks. Luthor wouldn't want to become President to genuinely try to make the world a better place. Luthor would want to become President to feed his ego, his power, his sadistic narcissism. And Superman isn't an idiot, so of course it would have occurred to Superman that the American people didn't know what he knew, and at least in his job as investigative journalist Clark Kent would have tried to sway voters to not vote for Luthor.
I do see these characters as disturbingly similar to Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong-Un and Steve Bannon. Luthor originally was a wannabe dicator, a con man, had real estate business schemes, and rich, having LexCorp Tower, and Luthor even became president, all like Trump. Kim Jong-Un is a war mongering dictator obsessed with building nukes for war. Albrecht Krieger "Captain Nazi" is obviously a Nazi idolizing Hitler, a top aid to the Nazi movement and prejudiced against Jews, etc. Steve Bannon is a top Trump aid and prejudiced against Jews. Bannon's abused ex-wife Mary Louise Piccard testified in a custody court hearing in 2007 that at Westland School, Bannon "asked the director why there were so many (Jewish) Hanukkah books in the library." Then after the couple toured Willows Community School, Bannon "asked me if it bothered me that the school used to be in a (Jewish) Temple. I said no and asked why he asked … he did not respond." Regarding another school, The Archer School for Girls, Bannon "went on to say the biggest problem he had with Archer is the number of Jews that attend. He said that he doesn’t like Jews and that he doesn’t like the way they raise their kids to be 'whiney brats' and that he didn’t want the girls going to school with Jews. I told him that there are children who are Jewish at (a competing school), and he asked me what the percentage was. I told him that I didn't know because it wasn't an issue for me as I am not raising the girls to be either anti-Semitic or prejudiced against anyone." Bannon is obsessed with a book called The Fourth Turning: What Cycles of History Tell Us About America's Next Rendezvous with Destiny by William Strauss and Neil Howe. According to the book, the last "Fourth Turnings" that America experienced were World War II in the '40s, the Great Depression in the '30s, the Civil War in the 1800s, and the Revolutionary War in the 1700s. All these were marked by periods of dread and decay in which the American people were forced to unite to rebuild a new future, but only after a massive conflict in which many lives were lost. It all starts with a catalyst event, then there's a period of regeneracy, after that there is a war for the old order is fought, and then finally there is a resolution in which a new world order is stabilized. Bannon encourages breaking down political and economic alliances and turning away from traditional American principles to cause chaos. I felt like I had to research and explain in detail with links for anybody that might be in denial that Trump, Putin, Bannon, Jong-Un really are the villains that they are. They are genuinely evil people, disturbingly accurate to the comic book villains. There is a rampant conformity and blind acceptance of authority among Trump supporters which is really disturbing. I hope for an impeachment before world war 3, and Trump's dictatorship dream happens. I've had this sense of dread ever since November 8th 2016.
