To be honest, Ididn't know really this character.

   I liked the little fellow as a kid back in the mid-1970s, even though I was unaware of what his creator Steve Gerber was really trying to do with the character.  "Trapped in a world he never made," sums up the splash page blurb for his short-lived comic published by Marvel during the latter half of that decade.  In many ways, Howard stood in for ordinary folks like us -- what if we were somehow transported to an Earth where superheroes, vampire cows and zany megalomaniac villains existed out in the open?

   An issue of Howard the Duck forming parts of a running plotline involving the villain Doctor Bong was my introduction to the art of Gene Colan.  I never realized just how versatile the old pro was until I saw his previous work with characters such as Doctor Strange, Dracula and Daredevil.

La première fois que j'ai vu ce personnage, il faisait équipe avec Spidey . A ce moment, je savais plus si je rêvais ou si j'étais dans le monde réel . Sérieux, Marvel à le chic pour inventer des personnages zarbis .
