It isn't often that Sans gets involved in someone else's emotional struggles. After all, those struggles will be forgotten when time gets reversed, so why bother?

I know, right? He's such a funny, quirky sweetheart. Even when he's being egotistical as all-get-out, he's so friendly about it, and it's clear that he sees other people as being awesome, too. Like how he refers to Alphys as "the brilliant Dr. Alphys".
