Description
(Happy Birthday in Romanian)
Wow!
20 years strong! Happy birthday DA!
I remember when I first heard about Deviantart when I was 15 years old (2004) interning at my former church. I was working on some sketches when one of my friends mentioned this community site for creatives called Deviantart. I was blown away by the creativity I found. It further launched me into wanting to develop my own style. Digital mediums were still fairly new at that point and I was trying my best traditionally to mimic what the frontline artists were producing in Photoshop.
It wasn’t until 2011 that I bought my first drawing tablet, the Wacom Bamboo Fun (CTH661) and taught myself how to draw digitally. It was hard learning how to move my hand and follow the cursor on the screen rather than watch my hand. There were times I wanted to give up and swore to myself that this method of drawing just wasn’t for me.. but I kept with it. I was determined to prove myself wrong. I kept with it and later developed my account, Iubikitty on here. (It’s been a while since I’ve been back—so I’ve forgotten everything linked with the account. Sigh.)
In 2019, I expanded into working through Procreate because I wanted to be able to take my drawings with me. And even then, there was a period of adjustment and frustration because I had to get used to the minor lag and also the gap you see because your stylus is touching the glass and the program is interpreting your strokes on the screen underneath. Even here I felt like I’d never get the hang of this and vowed to just stick to traditional or use of my drawing tablet (which by then I had upgraded to a Wacom Intuos (CTL6100WLEO))
However, my iPad has now become my preferred method of drawing. I like having it with me and being able to draw whenever wherever.
Anywho, this is the sketch for my piece in Loish’s DTIYS challenge. I changed the Rainbow to the DA logo since the bracelet charm says “20” and added my own quirkiness to her expression on top of the representation in my style, hehe! I hope everyone else is having fun with this too!
