What better excuse to draw fanart of a webcomic than the creator having his birthday? :3

I've been wanting to draw some of the Hope in Friends characters for a while now, especially Zander, Izzy, Neon and Volty here and well, here it is now ^^
Hope in friends or well zanders webcomics in general were actually some of the first PMD webcomics I ever saw and even tho I really loved the games back then I never knew that there was such a big community and so many content creators behind it here on deviantart.
It happened kinda randomly that I found one of these webcomics and well, from there on everything kinda started: I spent a good month on basically nothing more than reading through all the ones I encountered which was like 2 years ago in november and I also read a lot of them a second time too cause nearly all of them are really awesome and it is just so great to see how much people do and how creative they get because of a videogame like PMD and other stuff like that!
So yeah, seeing all of this really made me want to make something myself too so I sat down and started drawing, got a graphic tablet and now here we are... It's crazy how fast time passes by isn't it?
It's been nearly one year now and it has really been the greatest year of my life so far, starting with art changed a lot for me which is really great!
And i don't know, since I realized how much art really means to me and found my passion in it I kinda wanted to give something back to all the people that inspired me to start with it which are all these (well 3 with this one) birthday artworks I've been drawing for people the last few months :3

So really, thanks a lot for making all this fantastic content and inspiring people Zander!
I'm sure that I'm not the only one that it means a lot to so keep going with what you do and have fun with it, it's really awesome!

Also wanted to say something about the artwork real quick cause the resolution is a bit insane with 4914x3240, I originally wanted to render it down at the end but I literally can't do it cause sai crashes now everytime I do major edits on it as in copying something in, opening a second canvas or changing the resolution. Apparently 8gb of RAM aren't enough for a canvas of this size with like 100 layers
And the .sai file is friggin 402mb big

I used some panels from the digital Hope in Friends webcomic as reference and this artwork here (which wasn't actually that helpful for me to draw these characters but I simply love it so much that I had it in there as a reference anyways ovo )

Pokémon, Riolu, Buizel, Pikachu, Jolten and the Mystery Dungeon series belong to Nintendo , GameFreak, The Pokémon Company and Spike Chunsoft

This artwork was made using Painttool Sai

I used a custom pen for the outlines and sketch, a custom airbrush for the shading and a render and watercolor brush which are pretty similar if not the same than the one Honrupi uses as far as I know (I wanted to change them a little bit but I just love how they behave, they are so much fun to work with!)

I've kinda forgotten to add which brushes I used for the last few artworks since I barely use that one brushpack I always linked anymore but imma try to get back into crediting that too cause some of the brushes I use are from other artists
And sorry for being so inactive once again, had another relapse and was ill for another week cause of it but everything should be finally fine now :3

*EDIT: forgot to shade Izzy's right hand and there was a line which was too long at the end of zanders scarf
*EDIT2: forgot the eyebrows on Izzy, thanks to zander for pointing it out!
