Description
Damia, Sage of Stone, and Hoarder Supreme. It has been suggested that sexy, strong, potentially dangerous women with insane hair are what I'm becoming known for. So I decided to do this as a wild departure from that, to show my vast versatility and inventiveness.
Oh wait⦠Damn it.
...
Failure of breaking character aside, this was a really fun piece to work on. I know this will sound silly, what with a gorgon vixen in a plunging dress right there, front and center: but I really got into painting those bottles and jars. I even did research, and learned how to tell when and where old bottles were made. Yes, I've become that boring.
For the astute, or those with ridiculously excessive free-time/boredom: Easter-eggs abound in this piece. Not just from Magic, but also Dungeons and Dragons, Legend of the Five Rings, and Star Wars.
For Magic: the Gathering. Copyright Wizards of the Coast. Art directed by Jeremy Jarvis.
Throne by "Conquer in Comfort Tyrant Outfitters."

beautiful design, I love how detailed both her clothes and her surrounding potions are, but I'm pretty sure that those potions are not meant to be drunk by mortal humans.... Faved & Saved.

My general. And one of my favorite cards ever printed. Steve Argyle, you are an incredibly amazing man, and I wish I could have an absolutely enormous version of this card to hang in my room. Thanks for making this incredible card as powerful to look at as it is to read. If not more. Props to you, sir!

That's an amazing amount of detail for an illustration that was published at such a small scale! How did it print up? Did you feel that anything was lost in the reproduction?

A ton gets lost when it gets printed on a card. It ends up being about an inch and a half by two in the card window. But that's why I post high rez versions, and sell prints. That way you can see everything my twisty gray matter splattered on the page!

Very nice. I really liked the Gorgons of Magic: the Gathering and this one should be on a card with some damn good stats, no joke. It's good to see some awesome fantasy artists and I would rate this among the top. Again, great Gorgon.
