The lovely Yoritomo Hotako, also fearfully addressed as the Obsidian Champion, in a more serene moment. Or creepy, take your pick. I'm not sure what I'd do if I walked in on a hot, eyeless woman enamored with a helldemon mantis thing. I would probably exit as quietly as possible, and drink until that unsettling image was scoured from my mind.That's right people. She's here to stay. (So long as I have anything to do with it...)

I would suggest to make background wall and textures a different color/lighter/darker/whatever.. hard to see all details of the creature and hands..

Thanks! I use Photoshop and a Cintiq tablet. It's convenient enough that I even do the sketching on it. My scanner mostly collects dust nowadays.

It's a monitor with a Wacom digital stylus built into it. So you can essentially draw right on the screen. Pretty awesome, really. [link]

This is a gorgeous piece. At first I had no idea what was the "obsidian champion" until I noticed the praying mantis in her hand. I actually don't care that it took me a moment to notice it because the girl is so interesting to look at. What really caught my attention is her praying mantis arms as a hair clip! Holy crap!

Well, yes. There are eyes in there. I was thinking they'd become orbs of obsidian sometime before, or during, her turn to the dark side. Whether or not that makes her blind, but with some other tainted supernatural senses and what, will be up to the writers.

the rendering is beautiful and the girl looks gorgeous. However the mantis in her hand is really hard to see. Using a colour opposite in the colour wheel like green would make it pop out more.

Beautiful shadows and light game....Love the skin painted texture and the gorgeous lips.....The hairs setting is great as the physical proportions ....
The gracious neck....And again, this fantastic light intrusion playing with the orientals tones.....key of the atmosphere.....
