Description
Synopsis: In the last days of the Napoleonic Wars, Napoleon initiated his final plan in hopes of turning the tide of the war. He created large-scale machines that he dubbed "walking artillery". Think of these machines as a mix between spiders and tanks. The war was extended by a few years but after the Coalition reverse engineered the French technology and started making their own versions of the walking artillery, the war ended in Napoleons defeat. After the war, these technological monstrosities would lead to advances in many forms of technology, including military. When the technological revolution went global, mankind was all to eager to use it against itself. Wars, revolutions and other forms of disorder erupted across the world, but remained fairly local... until 1900 when World War 1 broke out.Nations from left to right:
Holy European Empire: When the German states united, they felt that Europe was to chaotic and declared that it was their responsibility to unite all of Europe under one banner. Currently, they are attempting to take the Russian Empire as they were declared the biggest threat to a unified Europe. The members of the Holy European Empire include, by their choice or not, Germany, Denmark(and their colonies), Netherlands(not including the colonies), Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Poland, Krakow, Belarus, the Baltic States and some parts of the western Russian Empire including St. Petersburg.
Kingdom of Yugoslavia: After Montenegro crowned a two headed princess, they inspired and lead the Slavic people in a massive revolution against the ruling Habsburgs and Ottomans. After gaining independence with aid from the Greeks and Romanians, the newly formed Yugoslavia conquered Bulgaria and Albania and vowed to destroy anyone who would attempt to subjugate the Slavic people.
Transylvanian Empire: Inspired by the Slavs but not enough to join them, the people of Transylvania experienced a cultural re-awakening and broke away from Habsburg rule... violently. So violently that the new ruler was given the title "Dracula" to instill fear and paranoia to their enemies. This new identity prompted the Transylvanian people to expand their boarders. Not ready to take on the Germans, Transylvania attacked the preoccupied Russians and took Ukraine and Crimea.
Medici Italy: The Medici returned as a prominent political party in Tuscany. They advocated for Italian unity and freedom of Habsburg rule, but through reform rather than open revolt. Through legal reforms, bribery, and every other business and political trick in the book, Italy was united by the Medici party(secretly the family) and the capital was placed in Tuscany. After skirmishes with the fleeting Austrian Empire and France, The Medici set their sites on Northern Africa and took Tunis as their starting point.
Babylon: With the technological revolution coming to the Middle East, the people of Mesopotamia had a revived interest in creating the Tower of Babel. Eventually this interest sparked a cultural counter-revolution that lead to a revolution against Ottoman rule and then a civil war between traditionalist Mesopotamians calling for a revitalization of Babylon and Arabic Muslims calling for a united Arabic state. Eventually the Babylonians were victorious, but ironically went on to conquer all of the Arabian peninsula. The Tower of Babel is now an ongoing production in Mesopotamia. The Hydra was adopted to represent all the people and civilizations of the world and how they originated from them.
Austria-Hungary-Slovenia/Final Habsburg State: With the nearly simultaneous revolutions of the Slavs, Transylvanians and Italians, imminent doom to the Habsburg dynasty seemed unavoidable. But two states stood by Austria in it's darkest hours: Hungary and Slovenia. Securing their boarders against hostile Italians to the south, bloodthirsty Transylvanians to the east and an increasingly hostile German presence to the north the Habsburgs undergo major reforms after this rude wake up call. Giving full autonomy to control their nations as they see fit, the small confederation refuses to let the black and gold fall.
New Byzantine Empire: When the Slavs revolted against Ottoman rule, the Greeks new it was time to come out of the crescent moons shadow. When the Greek flag flew over Istanbul, the Greek people knew that it's name was wrong. After the rise of Constantinople, the revitalized Byzantine Empire set out to wipe the Ottoman Empire from the face of the Earth. Once the crescent moon was black in the night sky, the people of Greece vowed to restore the Empire to it true greatness and unify Europe and Arabia forever under a new Roman Empire.
Final Crusader State/New Kingdom of Cyprus: In a world of fleeting christiandom, one nation still retains true to the old values of chivalry. Their knights might be Metallica and multi-legged but their goals are unbending. The Cypriots have found their identity. Not Greek, not Turkish, not French, Not English. Cyprus belongs to Jesus Christ, and Jerusalem belongs to Cyprus.
Revived Egyptian Empire: Egypt was no stranger to creating large and seemingly impossible feats of architecture. But Muslim Egypt seemed to have stunted their growth. With the Ottomans having treated Egypt as it's own personal slave for years, the Egyptians had had enough. Modern Islam was rejected and a return to the worship of ancient deities have returned to the Egyptian lands. But the real big change happened when, for the first time in eons, a Pharaoh was crowned. Across Egypt, walking artillery like no other marched and threatened the sovereignty of all around those unfortunate enough to boarder them.
Otto-Persian Empire: Much like their former mortal enemies, the Ottoman Empire was broken down to a shadow of it's former self. But in the carnage, an unlikely ally emerged. Persia was threatened by Babylon rule and knew if they did not receive aid, they would fall. They knew a broken Ottoman state could provide meaningful aid, so to entice them, the Persian dynasty enticed the Ottomans to join in a dual state to reconquer their lost territory. To prove their value, Persia attacked the (knowingly weak) Russian Empire and annexed land which was gifted to the Ottomans a gesture of good will. Enticed and frankly with no other options, the Ottomans and Persia united to form what could possibly be the last stronghold of western Islam in the old world. They vow to keep the crescent moon among the stars.
Carlist Spain: With the fall of Napoleon, Spain feared a new French republic. It was then that "they" made their presence known. The Carlists rose in prominence, declaring that they would defend Spain as they always have from France's evil ways and they will make France pay for abandoning the Bourbon dynasty. With the capture of Madrid and the crowning of a new King, Carlist Spain invaded France and expanded its boarders. Not satisfied with this simple display of power, the Carlists invaded North Africa and took all of north-west Africa, including Morocco and Algiers. Now the Carlists seek to reclaim the glory of the once magnificent Spanish Empire and expand it across the globe.
Stratocratic Portugal: Carlist Spain threatened everyone they bordered. Portugal knew this when they invaded France. Portugal Knew this when they invaded Morocco. Portugal knew this when they invaded Florida. Now Portugal stands as the last holdout in western Europe against the Carlists crusade for absolute dominance. The citizens of Portugal have a responsibility. To Portugal, to themselves... to the world. Take up arms, as we are the last line of defense.
Kingdom of France: France, the greatest fall of an empire in all of history. The weak and crippled nation only gets smaller and smaller as the years have went on from the Germans conquest of Elsaß-Lothringen and the Carlist conquest of Aquitaine, Midi Pyrenees and Languedoc Roussillon, the once mighty nation sits att the mercy of the world... or so they think. In a desperate time, Prince Henri, Count of Chambord takes the mantle of King of France. The new nation is reborn, and stands ready to take back what was stolen from her.
Council of Superior British Crowns: With the fall of Canada and the rise of the Carlists, the once United Kingdom stands greatly compromised in there bid for world domination. To encourage a sense of national unity, the once centralized monarchy has become a council of monarchs with one representing every nation in the British isles, including Ireland and the Isle of Man. But will it be enough to return the failing empire's place in the sun?
Tsardom of Russia: The fall of St. Petersburg was a massive blow to Russia's moral, even worse than the loss of of any of their western provinces. But as if by a miracle, the Russian people managed to prevent the total collapse of Russia with the "Great Defense" of the city of Moscow. The new capital became a national symbol for the people of the crippled Russian Empire. Now locked in a standoff with their mortal enemy, the Holy European Empire, the people of Moscow are willing to unleash the full force of the winter army upon the Europeans who made Mother Russia bleed.
Scandinavian Empire: The fall of Denmark was almost like an awakening to the Scandinavian people, especially Sweden. Realizing the changing world, Sweden vowed that the German hoard would not take the lands of Scandinavia. The Scandinavians disavowed Denmark's place as a Scandinavian nation and the Kalmar Union was revitalized and remodeled to fit into the current world. The last defenders of the North shall not be raided.
Finnish Republic: I know what you're thinking and NO, that is NOT a swastika on their flag. That is a symbol known as the "Cross of Liberty". Anyways, the Finnish people took the Germans attacking Russia as an opportunity to declare independence. They stand as a supporter to the Holy European Empire, but nothing more. The newly formed Scandinavian Empire also threatened their independence. But Finland is used to fighting nations way bigger than them.
