For those familiar with the Nuclear Butterfly series, this is what happened to the USA and Canada after Part 3. With over half the country covered in nuclear smog from the destruction of Nuclear Butterfly and her cult, along with Washington D.C. and New York in ruins, PLUS the destruction of the international space station, the USA and Canada had no choice but to pool their resources to survive as a nation. After a lengthy back and forth and some convincing from the Free Masons and the Skull and Bones, the USA and Canada became a dual state which effectively unified the two governments and pooled their remaining resources. Under joint command from the USA and Canada, the "Safe Spaces of America" was formed to preserve the non-irradiated locations across North America.

Everything in Green is a safe zone.

Everywhere that is gray is designated an exclusion zone.

Everywhere marked with a nuclear symbol is a place personally attacked by Nuclear Butterfly and is a source of heavy radiation.

The two red X's are places that have been destroyed but are NOT irradiated.

Side note, that thin strip between Texas and Nebraska was turned into a physical super highway.
