Description
This is a gift for my sister-in-law for always being there for Lori and I. She's done a lot for us especially in our time of need. She loves the "soul mate" statues (the statues where the couples form a heart) and really liked the idea of having a piece of art with it.The anatomy is based on the statues so obviously there's some creative freedom to form the heart.

You should really have facts in hand before you accuse someone of being a thief. My sister owns the only reproduction of this. Did you ever stop to think that maybe the "real artist" you claim to know stole it? Your comment is very distasteful and disappointing.

I had to look at this twice to make sure I was reading it right. I can assure you this is not stolen, there's only one of these made and my sister in law has it. I painted this based on a favorite statue she likes. You know people have stolen my work and have sold it on ebay and it has taken months for me to get someone to take it down (all the while they were profiting off my own work) so to be accused of stealing my own work is a new insult. Guess there's a first time for everything.
If you truly feel this was stolen then please provide me the link to the artwork, I'm curious now...Β

I can only tell you that my sons girl friend says she drew this same picture for school as an art project... im sorry if you feel you are being attacted but she did not know I had the picture and was very surprised it was even on line. I don't know what to say. She has not sold it or used it in any way. But says it is hers

Your follow-up comments are as offensive as your original post. For you to say you are sorry if if feels attacked is absurd. How could he not feel attacked? You accuse him if being a thief on his own page. You blindly took the word of your son's girlfriend as fact. I don't know what your profession is, but to accuse an artist of stealing is the worst thing you could possibly do. I suggest you learn two things: how to give a heartfelt apology, and to have facts in hand before you attack someone's character. I am quite certain it wouldn't sit well with you if someone branded you a thief. There is far too much negativity already in the world. Unless you are willing to provide her painting as Steve requested, keep your unproductive thoughts on your own page.

I can understand artists creating something that has similarities in the "idea" but the chances of two artists painting the same painting in the same detail, in the same color without influencing one another is slim to none. (next to impossible really)Β
You apologize for the fact that I feel attacked when you flat out openly accuse me of stealing my own work, which I made entirely by looking at a small statue and nothing else. (the statues look nothing like this painting).
I would like to see her painting, it could just be a simple act of misunderstanding and each painting looks nothing like one another. If she painted something based on the soul mate statues I could see how they could look similar but to be identical to mine? I have a hard time believing that.Β
Here's a pic of the real painting:
scontent-a-atl.xx.fbcdn.net/hpβ¦
It was created over 3 years ago, when was hers created? What size is it? What medium did she use? Is she really looking at my painting and claiming it as hers? If so then you should really speak with her and uncover the truth, artists know their work because they spend hours, days sometimes months finishing a piece. I know this is mine and have the source file to zoom in anywhere on the painting and reproduce any section in high detail. Β If she used my work as a basis for inspiration to create her own I don't have a problem with that as long as it isn't identical. The problem I have is when people copy my work, claim it as theirs and then I'm the one getting accused of stealing. That isn't cool.
You accuse me of stealing which being a victim of the same thing I tend to take it seriously. If you're going to accuse someone of this, have the facts and be able to back it up 100 %. Β Have you seen her painting? If not then why accuse me by going on hear say.

Wonderful concept: I've never seen anything quite like this before. The shadowed foreground and bright background work great.
