I remember every time I sat down on a deer stand, I had a flock of crows parked nearby, never failed Now that I don't hunt much, I seldom hear many crows and I miss those "caw-caw's".
We call the buzzards, the County Sanitation Dept! lol With our wildlife population here and the morons driving around these days, they stay busy cleaning up the roadways.

Yep, they were in a tree beside our garage. They have roosted in several trees here that I have seen. They seem to prefer tall dead trees that is easy for them to land and take off from as hey aren't the most graceful at either of those but they do glide around for hours on end every high up.

They seem to be big. We don't have here these kind of birds.
Are they birds of prey?

Scavengers, they eat only dead meat. They help clean our roadways and are protected in our state. They aren't an endangered species but an essential one for us.
You have to slow down and make sure you don't hit one with your car, they weigh enough to come right on through the windshield!

They spend most of their time soaring so high that they almost disappear from view. They can spend hours gliding on the wind while sniffing the air for carrion smell. Ugly with no feathers on their heads and needless to say they smell

Thanks, they all came to roost in the dead pine about the same time as a thunder storm approached.
