Description
This is my version of a drawing by the German artist Albrecht Dürer from 1514. It was an unflinching study of his mother, Barbara Holper, at age 63, two weeks before she died. She was ravished by time, poverty and a plague and gave birth to 18 children in her lifetime, only two of whom survived. This was one of my biggest drawing challenges to date from a technical standpoint.Graphite pencil on paper
