Description
I've had some free time so I decided to bite the bullet and get back to painting. In the last ten years the only painting I've done were a few pet portraits, but I'm determined to start producing my own work again (outside of digital). This image is of a partially completed portrait that I started on Monday. It's painted with acrylics on paper, which is mounted on a panel.Related content

I used to dry bush to get blended areas. But with this painting I used Golden and W&N glazing medium. The Golden seems to have some retarder in it so it gives a little more time for blending. My big mistake (not being used to using glazing medium) was not giving the medium time to dry when it got tacky...which is what caused the subtle gravely texture on the surface and tiny pores.
Also, I'm mainly using W&N artist's acrylics, which have a slightly longer open time...although I stress "slightly"...it's more noticeable when paint is applied thickly.

That's so beautiful. I do hope to see more of your traditional artwork and anything else you end up doing. I'm excited to see the finished piece though. I wish you the best.

Very good!
Love your digital art but hope to see more traditional artwork as you clearly have a talent for that as well.
Look forward to see the finished piece!
