That's a great mix of characters, funny becuse both of these characters appeared in a newspaper short entitled Betty Boop & Felix.

I saw a real early design sheet for Betty once showing that she was alot more feline in look that she's known for today.

She was originally design to be a anthromorphic dog character, in fact she was a supporting character for her boyfriend Bimbo the Dog. She was later redesign to be human when she had a positive audience reaction.

okay. I thought it was feline, but it's been awhile. I do know they spun Popeye off from one of her cartoons. Those theater cartoons of his are my favorite.
