Description This is based upon a great idea that owligator.tumblr.com/ had on Fallout horses! Because seriously, why do we have Brahmin, Radstags and Mongrels roaming about when horses aren't doing the same? In fact, horses would probably be just as likely, if not more likely, to survive in the radiated wastelands as horses can go up to 40 mph. So, as time goes on, they have grown an extra set of legs and maybe an extra appendages here and there despite the fact they're not very useful. Anna, the gal behind Sleipnirs, has more information about them, and I hope someone can get a team together to get a Sleipnir mod on both Fallout 3 and Fallout 4. That'd be a dream come true omg

Anyway, that being said, I thought I'd work on something a little different and draw my very own Sleipnir. This is Hyde, who is strongly based upon the Akhal-Teke, specifically. He's a wild stallion who hangs around settlements of southern New Mexico by his lonesome, and he mysteriously has no herd of his own, but he's been suspected to impregnate mares of bands led by other stallions, by looking at some foals born from them. Nobody has tried to break him in, out of respect of his peculiar yet gentle nature towards humans and never having his own herd. Sure, he gets into scraps with mole rats and Mongrels and the like, but he usually keeps to himself around humans, Sleipnirs, and ghouls alike.

Fallout belongs to Bethesda
Sleipnirs belong to owligator.tumblr.com/

They actually explained that the radiation caused horses to become sterile. they could survive the wastes, but couldn't reproduce. It was stated in response to a misunderstanding in an official story that was supposed to be a precursor for New Vegas.

Oh, really? I didn't know that! Such a shame, they would've been an awesome addition to the Fallout franchise.

Tell me about it. I keep hoping they'll make use of the Giddy-up Buttercup toys as more than just a background object...

That would be hilarious if they did! I saw one mod for it but it was in this awkward Brahmin run cycle. It looked like it was limping/loping instead of doing a canter or gallop cycle. I hope they improve on that...

Hell, the damned thing could be stiff-legged and have wheels in the hooves and I'd be happy. Honestly, they could probably borrow the animation from the comparable Elder Scrolls games, the game structures should be close enough.

Granted, they were designed with a child's size in mind...

*visualizes badass tricked-out psycho bandit screaming a profanity-laced warcry while astride a metal horse with rainbow mane and tail that's roughly half the size an adult needs*

... On second thought, that may render the game unplayable, purely because players would be laughing too hard to defend themselves...

That's definitely true! But then again, it's pretty humorous to hear jolly tunes from Bing Crosby and Ella Fitzgerald play as you're mutilating a Super Mutant Berserker with a 25-pound Fat Man

I love targeting bandits with sniper rifles, especially with the silencer in New Vegas. Oh, then there was the time Bloody Mess kicked in as I was killing a Super Mutant Brute with a 10.mil(it was the only weapon I still had ammo for that was in working condition.) Big ol' Mutie exploded into a bunch of tiny little fragments.

I tend to favor weapons like the Sniper rifle, the hunting rifle, and things like that. Since I prefer taking a stealthy approach, I don't mind sacrificing speed if I can take targets out before they know I'm there. If it's a run-&-gun situation, I prefer shotguns and automatics, though in FO3 I tend to spam the alien disintegrator from the Mothership Zeta addon.

I do like using snipers too. I'm usually a stealth-archer in Skyrim, but I want to take different approach in Fallout, yet if I find a difficult opponent in Fallout, then I use the Sniper and go for a Sneak Attack.

I've never played Fallout 3 but I've heard it's the best one of all. I would really love to take a stab at it someday, but it's not too friendly with mods, which I think are mandatory if you want the game to be prettier.

LadyRoseofFlames In reply to Stevenson-Sketches [2018-04-24 23:56:41 +0000 UTC]

Not friendly? It's pretty much the same setup as Oblivion. Go for it, and I will tell you, one of my favorite mods is the Mini Hideout mod found here: www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mod…

It's got all the base features, including a bobblehead stand and med unit, plus a hidden area with a great weapon that's something between an assault rifle and a sniper rifle: powerful rounds(uses 5.56), high fire rate, and a really good scope. It also hase some katanas.

Also, be sure to get all the addons, especially Mothership Zeta(CASH COW, you get so much stuff, and it all sells high) and Point Lookout(my personal favorite).

Finally, the local branch of the Brotherhood of Steel, Lyons Pride, are awesome. I think they are the only current branch of the BoS who aren't douchebags.

Oh, who knew huh? That's just what I heard through the grapevine. I'll have to look at these mods, they sound pretty awesome!

And seriously, tho. The Brotherhood of Steel is just a group of arrogant jackasses!

LadyRoseofFlames In reply to Stevenson-Sketches [2018-04-25 01:34:50 +0000 UTC]

There's some arrogance, but Lyons Pride actually remembers their original pledge- to help the survivors, rather than just hoarding pre-war tech. There's also the Outcasts, BoS members who didn't approve of the shift, and hoard whatever they can find. I mostly ignore them and they ignore me, so it's good.
Watch out for the Enclave, though. now THERE is a bunch of dickheads.

And I hate dickheads. No thanks

LadyRoseofFlames In reply to Stevenson-Sketches [2018-04-29 00:43:56 +0000 UTC]

LOL, nah, mostly I just picked up references here and there. BoS started a few months after the bombs fell with the intent to gather prewar tech to help rebuild America, but eventually decided the survivors "didn't deserve" their help. Hence the hoarding. Lyons Pride is possibly the only group that eventually went back to the original mission.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stevenson-Sketches In reply to LadyRoseofFlames [2018-05-01 17:37:01 +0000 UTC]

Why do you think the BoS would do that? Start being all high and mighty and hoard military supplies and not focus on helping people

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyRoseofFlames In reply to Stevenson-Sketches [2018-05-01 23:55:44 +0000 UTC]

If I remember right, they felt the survivors didn't deserve to use the tech. That in their desperation to survive, most wastelanders had become something less than human. Add to that BoS' disgust towards mutants, be they Super Mutant, Ghoul, or otherwise, and they basically think humanity in America isn't "good" enough for their help.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stevenson-Sketches In reply to LadyRoseofFlames [2018-05-05 01:54:19 +0000 UTC]

Well that's just disgusting. How rude!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyRoseofFlames In reply to Stevenson-Sketches [2018-05-05 03:54:42 +0000 UTC]

Well, it does make sense, to a point. This is a world that is severely damaged, with extreme scarcity. It makes sense that they are careful about who they are willing to help, but the problem is, BoS has become blinded by their own moral superiority, and can't seem to differentiate between raiders and normal, law-abiding wastelanders. Lyons Pride, however, has reclaimed their original mission, even going so far as to help deliver clean, safe water to various settlements across the DC Wasteland.

Stevenson-Sketches In reply to LadyRoseofFlames [2018-05-08 03:51:13 +0000 UTC]

So the Lyons Pride pretty much shows what BoS should be, despite all the other troops being all stingy and arrogant.

Oooooo, base game or with all the addons? Protip: don't kill Fawkes. He's cool. Or Uncle Leo. You'll recognize both, they are the only ones of there kind that don't attack you on sight. Fawkes is the BEST ally for a Good character.

That's what my boyfriend said about Fawkes! He used to play it when he was younger and is having kind of a throwback right now lol. It's funny because my favorite follower is Strong, with his snarky comments in broken English, the fact he lives up to his name, and the fact I have this massive Super Mutant by my side. He's not a bad follower at all, he's better than Dogmeat lol!

And yeah, we got Fallout 3 with all the DLCs at Gamestop for $10. A screaming deal, if you ask me.

EPIC. Keep Fawkes from the moment he offers to join you to the end of the main questline. You get a new option involving him in the last quest step.

Stevenson-Sketches In reply to LadyRoseofFlames [2018-05-11 16:36:50 +0000 UTC]

That's lame. But then again, it doesn't have the same promising potential that 3 and New Vegas have had. I've checked out multiple reviews and it's a tossup between 3 and New Vegas when it comes to which one is best. 4 is actually right below BoS (which was a travesty). I like Fallout 4 but it doesn't really look like a wasteland like 3 does. It has more color, and Diamond City twinkles, whereas Megaton flickers, like a post-apocalyptic city would be expected to be like. Maybe it's just the colors, but I just don't find it as convincing as Fallout 3 as a whole. And then there's the Institute and this plot twist that was pretty unncessary, in my opinion. So, it may be fun, but you aren't getting what you bargained for as much as you might with Fallout 3.

I've heard that 4 was a letdown, but I still wanna play it. I'm also trying to convince my laptop that it actually CAN play Elder Scrolls Online. It disagrees because my graphics card isn't quite as powerful as the game wants, but if I can get skyrim to run on an 5+ year-old Vaio netbook, I can get it to run on my current laptop.

Oh for sure. I am really, really, really obsessed with the Elder Scrolls games and their lore. I'm highly anticipating ES6, and I want to play Oblivion and Morrowind. I have ESO, but since my race of choice is Khajiit, I was really disappointed to see what they did to the cat-folk of Elsweyr. The just look constipated. And the Argonians are even worse. They look like blockheads with scales and horns on them. The Argonians were gorgeous in Skyrim, so I was disappointed when I saw how much they downgraded on their look. Lizards aren't exactly the easiest faces to sculpt, but I'm confident they could've done better with their faces. I don't know. I couldn't really get too far into ESO without looking past the hideous designs of the beastfolk of Tamirel.

Sorry, I have so much passion for Elder Scrolls lol

Preaching to the choir, hun. I LOVE TES. I've been slowly working on a telling from one of my character's run through the Dark Brotherhood from Skyrim. I have the first parts here, it's called Sithis & Sweetrolls. I have two separate timelines, planned out starting in Morrowind, through Oblivion and Skyrim.

I'd love to read it sometime! I've got back stories on all my Dovahkiin, two of which are Khajiit that are related to each other but took their power of their Thu'um on different paths. I have an Argonian mage who, ironically, has no interest in attending the College of Winterhold, a Nord with a strong fascination in the Dwemer and their artifacts and ruins, and a Khajiit who's a battle mage and Archmage in CoW.

LadyRoseofFlames In reply to Stevenson-Sketches [2018-05-20 01:08:41 +0000 UTC]

Nice! I have a first-gen Breton Dovahkiin who is well balanced, favoring destruction, conjuration, one-handed and archery,a devotee of Meridia, Arch-Mage of CoW, ends the civil war by threatening to feed both Tullius and Ulfric to Odahviing if they don't at least TRY her suggestion(Skyrim becomes an independent kingdom, but forges alliance with Empire), ends up Alduin's babysitter when Akatosh sentences him to live as a mortal as punishment for... well, EVERYTHING, and is utterly fascinated by the dwemer. Her mother was Skaal Nord, and her father is the Bosmeri Nerevarine, Champion of Namira and a dedicated cannibal, and Listener of the Dark Brotherhood. He's also bi and hooks up with Cicero.

My OTHER storyline is even crazier. Nerevarine is a Nord woman, primary Dovahkiin is a male Dunmer(they are friends and find the race swap HILARIOUS.) Dovahkiin is middle child of 5, ALL of whom turn out to be Dovahkiin; Older brother is a Knight of Azura(made it up, basically a warrior devoted to the Lady of Twilight), older sister is Archmage of CoW, and ex mage of the imperial mage's guild. Younger sister is vampire and member of Riften's Thieves Guild, and befriends Serana, and the younger bro is ex-Temple and current member of the Dawnguard. Khajiit character from Sithis & Sweetrolls is from this storyline, unknowingly has a brother in Thieves Guild, and hooks up with THIS storyline's Cicero.

God those are both complex but so intruiging. My first Dovahkiin, who is a Khajiit by the name of Azrhun, came from Elsweyr with her mother and brother, Da-Ran. They moved all over Cyrodiil, then lived in Falkreath until their mother died of rockjoint. She has strong interest in J'Zargo, but as he always says, "J'Zargo only has so much room to carry things", the burden of a relationship included. She's the only one to have defeated Miraak, and the leader of the Dark Brotherhood. She's lawful neutral.

Her brother Da-Ran, runs the Thieves' Guild, and married Ysolda, only to turn her into a vampire and tends to treat her like garbage. He's the only one to meet Nocturnal in the Twilight Sepulcer, and kills off the Dark Brotherhood, but fails in killing his sister, the only survivor. He's chaotic neutral.

Hrafn War-Hide is a bachelor, probably because he's like Travis in Fallout 4-a bull in a china shop with women, but is convinced he might find the Dwemer and marry a woman of that race. Folks think he's odd for carrying such a strong fascination for the Dwemer. He's kind of a bumbling idiot in every other respect, and is a little too helpful with people, therefore obligated to help dozens of people. He tries to be lawful good, but his tendency to be a people pleaser ends up killing more people than need be.

Shira Kills-In-Murkwood comes from Gideon in Black Marsh, coming to Skyrim to try and find a place she could call her home, after remaining unsuccessful in Cyrodiil and not even daring to grace Morrowind after the war between the Argonians and Dark Elves. So far, she doesn't like Skyrim, but Shira is a pessimistic and picky mage, though she seeks refuge towards her fellow egg-siblings at the docks in Windhelm. She's good a neutral standpoint on everything.

Lastly, La'Rasha Zanair was born in the Imperial City, then after spending some time in Bruma, growing bored of her lowly, permanent position in the Mage's Guild, joined the College of Winterhold. She's got a good heart, but is drawn towards her instincts as a Khajiit, being stealthy and combative. I've gotten mods to add more Khajiit in Skyrim, so she's assembled her own Khajiit caravan that's build around killing things XD
