Description Was going through some old books and came across a book I have about The Crow movie. Began re-reading various parts and was inspired to work on a tribute to Brandon Lee, who portrayed The Crow in the Alex Proyas film in which the star died during filming.

In a bit or tragic irony, Bruce Lee died before completing his fifth film, The Game of Death. The movie was completed, using a stunt double and come crappy special effects involving a photo of Bruce's face super-imposed over a stand-in. The movie was re-written to accomidate the footage already filmed and to include footage of Bruce Lee's actual funeral in Hong Kong. In the new cut of Game of Death, Bruce Lee's character is now an action movie star who is marked for death. A live bullet is inserted into a prop gun during filming of one of his scenes and he is "killed" while filming. His character lives - but is now tracking down those who tried to kill him.

In real life, Brandon Lee was killed accidentally but a live round that was lodged in the barrel of a prop gun during the filming of The Crow, his fifth theatrical film, (not counting tv movies). The odd similarities in these has fueled the belief in a Lee family curse.

Whatever the case, Brandon was a very gifted actor whose career and life were both tragically cut short before we witness all that he would've accomplished. Like Heath Ledger, his last film will be looked at as his best...

Brandon Lee will be a legend in the history of the Crow. Let us not forget that. Like his father before him who has been a legend, so shall he be in equal rights. May your soul find happiness in God's light, Brother Brandon. We will always remember you.

I would love to do a tribute to Brandon Lee. I have yet to decide on a portrait though. This is very inspiring and beautifully done.

Took forever to get the "shading" in photoshop just right... I love the smudge tool but sometimes it's a bitch to work with over pencils.

Thanks for the kind words.

Yeah, I used to have all of his movies on video. There were some 'jems' in there, like Laser Mission, but even in the cheesey ones - you could see the talent and potential.

I had all those too! Kuing Fu the movie, Laser mission, Showdown in Little Tokyo, Rapid Fire....good times.

Laser Mission was, by far, my favorite... It had the best story and production values... LOL!

Rapid Fire was a good one, though. Showdown in Little Tokyo was interesting. Brandon should've kicked Dolph's ass...

Dolph is such a joke... Brandon should've killed him off and ran off with Tia Carrera...

This is a good likeness. It seems weird without his having a shirt on though. Still a nice piece.

I went to the Charlotte Hero Con back in the early 90's and James O'Barr told us the tale of how Brandon Lee died. I didn't know about the recreation of the storyline in the Bruce Lee movie. That makes his son's death very weird indeed.

I think yer right about the comparison between Lee and Ledger. I've been saying the same thing myself. The films that killed these actors would have launched their careers into the A list. The actor's deaths make the performances even more striking.

Now I'm depressed, thanks, Steve.

Maybe I should give him a shirt because the wife says his collar bone looks off...

Yeah, the original Game of Death and the one they released were completely different.

For even more depressing thoughts, the insurance company that holds Heath Ledger's life policy is refusing to pay out to his daughter - saying that his death was a suicide... Mind you, the medical examiners ruled his death accidental but that doesn't stop them from making their own decisions...

Sorry, feeling very pissed at insurance companies at the moment. (Still pissed about how mine screwed me when my comics were stolen...)

I was wondering if you ever got any leads on that just the other day.

Nope. I DID get a letter from my insurance company stating that if the police ever recover anything - that they get to recover THEIR losses from paying me $2,000 on an insured collection that was worth over $6,000.

I can offer no comforting words as none exist. I do believe in karma though. Not that it's a consolation of any kind.

He will suffer.
