Coming this fall to the Hub Network! (Not really.)

nanook123 had a huge livestreaming marathon a while back when she was drawing sketches for a charity drive, and she played a lot of Alvin and the Chipmunks. Now, I'm very much not a fan of the new movies — they're lazily written and set a new record for stupid stunt casting, one that I doubt could ever be broken — but I can definitely get behind the decision to reimagine them as actual chipmunks instead of the generically rodent-like creatures they were in the '60s or... whatever you'd call the designs they went with in the '80s.

Anyway, one of the songs that came up a lot was this remake of the 1980s TV show's theme song from this movie tie-in album . And it got me to thinking about what the characters might look like if the movie franchise were spun off into a modern-day, Flash-animated TV series. This is what I came up with.

I have no experience with TV-quality Flash animation, so I have no idea how appropriate these designs would actually be, but I like how the designs turned out at least. Especially considering how quickly I banged them out; Theodore was the only one I had to erase and start over on (twice). I aimed for sort of a broad differentiation between the three of them that conveys their distinct personalities regardless of their facial expressions.
