Description

The Elephant Man, by Bernard Pomerance, is my favorite script of any sort. David Lynch's film is NOT based expressly on the play, but it IS based on The Elephant Man and other Reminiscences by Frederick Treves (the real doctor who knew the Real Joseph Merrick) and The Elephant Man: A Study In Human Dignity by Ashley Montagu -- which are ALSO the basis of the playscript.

I've been fortunate enough to stage the work 4 times, including a staged-reading-with-music of an edited version for inner city Dallas children, and three full theater productions.
